Why don't people resign when I win their queen or rook for nothing?

Grandmasters resign immediately out of respect for their opponent.  People on chess.com are NOT respectful.

They force you to play another 20-30 moves....disrespectful.  .....And I am NOT talking bullet.  Bullet I kind of understand.

After queen, one should resign but I have won tons of games after losing my rook but im at 1200 so mistakes are made very often :D

I have to disagree with you.  Chess is a game and the game isn't over until checkmate, stalemate, or draw.  Play the game don't resign.  The reason they play it out is because it teaches them how to play out positions no matter how bad they are losing.  Chess is a game just like poker, monopoly, uno, checkers, go, and many more.  Do you quit/resign in a card game or any other board game? Probably not.

It's hard to respect you when you make asinine threads.

You seem upset.

Having played about 4,000 games since 2009, three times i have taken someones queen and still lost. Vice versa I have also lost my queen and managed to win. Why do football teams play when they are losing by 21 at half-time?

Q.

Why don't people resign when I win their queen or rook for nothing?

A. They are having trouble configuring their engine. Be nice and give them some time to get the setting figured out.

Respect needs to be earnt and some people, for instance this fellow, clearly do not deserve it. Insulting others is neither a sign of intelligence nor humility and demonstrates that reason for why some people do not resign even in the worst of positions.

I can't tell if you're talking about me or the OP.

GMs may resign in some situations when only a pawn down. But the vast majority of players arent as good as GMs and they may continue playing even when a queen down because of the chance of their opponent blundering a win that should be in the bag for a better player. It happens enough that a lot of players try it on.

But you don't seem to need to be playing the game of chess to show everyone what a tool you really are. I hope your game play is not as unoriginal and lethargic as your forum replies are.

I like you.

Chess.com should establish and vigorously enforce two common sense rules.  First, if your opponent informs you that his game is won, you must immediately resign.  Second, if he requests a rematch (or a hundred rematches), you must accept.  No exceptions will be made for power outages or life-threatening emergencies.

Avatar of Reservoir-Cats
i meant ask them why they don't resign, if you tell them to resign you risk getting flipped off.

Lower rated players (the majority of chess.com), will continue to play on down 2 queens and 2 rooks, hoping for stalemate.  They need to learn respect for their opponent's skill.

Buuuuuut again since everyone on chess.com, well mostly everyone on chess.com is a horrible player, with thousands of games played......they would never understand what I am talking about.

AND AGAIN, I AM TALKING ABOUT SLOWWW CHESS, not bullet.

I am reminded of the Japanese during WWII, their stupid leader would NOT surrender even though they were dead lost.  Soooo we threw 2 little bombs and....after 120,000 people were killed....THeeeeeen they surrendered.
