If you have been checkMATED, it will clearly state 'the computer won by checkmate'. If there is a move history, will show a # symbol (checkmate annotation) against your opponent's last move
If you are merely in check, the move history will show a + symbol (check annotation) against your opponent's latest move. Also, you will find that you are unable to move EXCEPT to get out of check.
