There is no courtesy abort. Oh yes there is!

It appears that you must either let the game time out (and incur a timeout mark on your record) - or resign, in which case, you will lose rating points.

But, Artfizz, I read somewhere that any game under 4 moves in can be aborted without penalties, but the initial 'abort' sign is now no longer displayed. Surely, then, the 'abort' sign should hang in there until 4 moves are done?

Besides, in this game that I wish to abort, both players wish to cancel the game.

Here is the correct answer ... according to baseballfan

2. You can only "abort" a game before both players have made two moves. Once both players make two moves, and abort is not possible, only a resign. If you are able to abort a game, it will not effect anyone's ratings.

3. Again, you can only abort very early, but, if you do, no, it will not show up anywhere, it will be as if the game had never existed.
