What version of Firefox? If you are not on a newer version, that is likely the  problem. I've heard version 52 in particular (and likely before) has problems now.

BRENDA

Hey guys! If you are all still experiencing some of these issues, please check the following:

Your Computers operating system. If you are using Windows Vista, this can be a big part of the issue. I would highly encourage you to switch to Windows 10 or a newer version of windows! There are some sites that will work with Windows Vista, but they will still be outdated which will cause an interruption on our site.

Check your Browser version. If you have an outdated browser version, this can also be the cause of some of your issues. Here are different browser version links that you can go to and find out if you are updated!

Now, for those that are getting a blank page, check to see you are NOT using any Ad blockers. We have found that Ad blockers are interfering with our site and because it's a third party we are unable to fix the problem. The only way to do that is by disabling the Adblocker!

I am on Firefox 52 now since this is the current version for Windows Vista. It was still working on Monday. Please, Brenda, fix the code of chess.com to be compatible with Firefox 52 again.

Martin_Stahl

Might try switching to Chrome for now if you can't upgrade to a new version on Firefox. While 52 isn't that old, it is possible that some core changes in the code may not work on that version.

Same behaviour with Chrome.

So maybe it is an OS limitation? Weird, don't think I've seen that before.

What version of Chrome is that?

Also, you don't have any security software that might be interfering with anything by chance?

It is version 49, the last version for Windows Vista. It was still working on Monday. Whatever chess.com changed from Monday to Tuesday, it broke compatibility with older browsers. It still works with IE 11 on Windows 7, though. They just need to undo whatever changes they made to the site recently. I know I have to update to Windows 10 sooner or later. I have updated the computer of my parents to Windows 10 a year ago to prevent such problems. I saw it coming. But updating just because of Chess.com? Come on, that's silly! Before I buy Windows 10 now I switch to Linux. Stick a Live-CD in and that's it.

Martin_Stahl

They may be able to figure out exactly what changed to break those versions but depending on the number of clients using Vista, they may not. I don't have access to Vista so can't even look at what could be going on.

BinaryPoet

I sent them the output of the Firefox Browser Console, so they should be able to figure it out. But, maybe, they just don't want to. According to the Steam statistics, Vista has fallen behind XP in number of users a year ago. Let's have a look at the hardware survey statistics now... Oh, Vista is no longer listed, but XP is with 0.22%. Windows 7 holds the Hall of Fame with nearly 70% market share, leaving Windows 10 far behind. And Windows 7 even gained back users!

Same problem here...

I use Ubuntu 16.04, but the problem is the same. I have a Win10 at home, so I will try that tonight.

Is it possible, that this problem occurs only in Europe (based on the comments)? Or is it a coincidence?

I meant the problem being OS specific and not browser. I guess maybe Vista didn't get something that other OSes did from an update perspective. Though, I know that some browsers don't get updated past a certain version ...

Seems most people having the particular problem are on Vista, though I guess it is possible other people are on a different OS on with Firefox 52. Kind of wonder what limitation is suddenly being hit.

I'm still using Windows XP and I have this problem with every browser (Opera, Chrome and Firefox)...

V3 not showing games. V2 not showing green squares by players name. Also, V2 does not refresh after opponent moves. I have been refreshing manually for months.
