which pages and on what browser ?When was the last time you cleared cookies on your browser?
Intermittent "page not found"

I'm using Chrome. I've just cleared the cookies & cache. I haven't made a note of which pages but I'm usually in the online chess area. If the problem persists I'll take a note of the pages and get back to you. Thanks for the prompt reply.

I still had problems after clearing cache & cookies. After clicking on "submit move" in online chess I got "page not found" and the move was not submitted. Again in online chess when I clicked the "Analysis" link the new page showed "page not found". I then switched to firefox, firstly clearing chess.com cookies but again had the "page not found" in the tactics trainer at the end of the last move of a problem. I don't have any problems accessing other sites. This is all really just annoying rather than critical, but any suggestions to sort it will be welcome.

Things have been getting really annoying - live chess, for example, was pointless. So I've done a bit of poking about and I think I've tracked down the source of the problem - slow server response. I've increased the timeout setting in Firefox and it appears to have solved the problem. Sometimes I have to wait a while for the page to show, but it does show eventually (and it's just happened again when I hit the button to allow me to edit this post - took about 30 seconds to get a server response). I had to dump Chrome and move over to Firefox as Chrome doesn't allow you to tinker with the timeout settings. I'm surprised that I'm the only person to have experienced this problem, or am I just the first to moan about it?

Not sure, but good post anyway. Anyone else having this problem can try what you did, and it'll hopefully help them :)

chess.com's servers failure to respond can manifest itself in several different ways e.g. oops-server-error, about-error-500, 502-bad-gateway-errors-today. It could be a slow computer on your route to chess.com. See intermittent-connection-issue-affecting-all-site-areas and about-error-500 (post #8).

Thanks for the links artfizz. I'l have a look at them once I've worked up the enthusiasm. I agree it's not necessarily chess.com's servers at fault. My ISP claims that there's nothing wrong at their end, but a quick trawl with google shows they've got quite a few digruntled customers, so maybe it's time for a change. The irony of all this is that I decided to get back into chess to exercise my brain (and it certainly needs that!) and to get away from fiddling around with computers at a techie level. C'est la vie.

Well, I've finally got a good, stable connection. I was told by the help desk to change all my kit, which I did, but my connection still carried on dropping. I then realised there was only one thing left to change under my control and that was my ISP. So I did that a week ago and everything's now sorted. So it's obvious the problems were all down to my ISP. I feel like ranting about them, but that won't really achieve anything.
One good thing has come out of this though. I live in the UK and have a BT phone line. BT are selling a "broadband accelerator" for about £8. If you have the right kind of main telephone socket this fits on to it. It took me 5 minutes to fit. I live out in the sticks as far away from the exchange as it's possible to be and still get broadband. After fitting the accelerator I've seen my speed go from just over 1Mb on a good day to nearly 4Mb. So at last I can watch the videos nice and smoothly.
So, a happy ending

For those that like that sort of thing, this is the sort of thing they like.

Demon Internet. Many years ago they were the best in the business. Then they got bought out by THUS who I believe have now been taken over by Cable & Wireless. And that explains everything. They'd tell me everything was perfect and my connection wasn't dropping while I was sitting watching the connection drop. They even suggested it was probably caused by me continuously switching the lights on and off. Oops, starting to rant.

I get this issue sometimes at home with a different ISP. I haven't asked them about it yet.
Interestingly I think we use Demon as work but it is ok here... Not that I use chess.com much from work...
For me the error only occurs on logout and sometimes (very rarely) on login

From a bit of googling I reckon they concentrate on their business customers and their home customers can go and ...

Well, I thought everything was sorted, but the "fix" only lasted for a few days. But this time everything's really sorted (maybe). After a few days with BT the connection started dropping again in the evenings and at nights. Sometimes once or twice an hour, other times every couple of minutes or so. So I got back on the phone to BT's help desk. After only 5 or 6 calls they agreed to send out an engineer. He came and fixed the connection issues. It was only a few days later that we realised we hadn't received any incoming phone calls. Back on the phone again. Their first fix disabled the line completely. Back on the phone again. Got the problems with the line fixed and we could receive calls again, but this time no broadband at all. And finally, finally, finally an engineer appears to have sorted the connection issues and the phone line's working. And my speed's now up to 5Mb. At least I learned a valuable lesson - I'm seriously addicted to chess.

Awesome! Glad to hear its finally fixed for you :)
For the past few days I've been getting "page not found" errors on a fairly regular basis. This is happening on all pages on chess.com that I try to access. I don't have this issue with any other websites. Any ideas?
