I want to become a premium member but I don't know wether to upgrade to platinum or diamond. Taking cost into account then which level do you think is better?

I think platinum is better but it depends on what you expect. If you wanna enjoy video lessons and use the Chess Mentor buy the diamond one. If not platinum is just fine.

Realistically I think platinum is a better deal but I truly loved watching Danny Rensch's videos back when I had a diamond membership

As Boletus_CZ said, diamond is better if you'll be using videos and chess mentor regularly. If not, well...

@OP: I think the Diamond level is the better value. The videos and Chess Mentor are extremely useful and valuable. I temporarily downgraded my membership from Diamond to Platinum earlier this year, and I have really missed the videos and Mentor.

If you will not use these features, then Platinum is probably the level for you. However, to answer your question, the Diamond level is superior in value.

I had platinum for about a year here. They upgraded like 10 or 20 lessons for chess mentor each day. Platinum is a very good deal to start out with. If I had the time to play chess as often as I used to, I'd probably get it again. It is definitely worth it.
