Playing on a mobile device its too easy to press the "lock" or "sleep" button and go on to doing something else. Aka Frustration

Chess is played both on the board and on time control.

For what it's worth, I have only abandoned a few games (maybe just once), and it was out of frustration. Typically, even when making a huge blunder I play it out. I've found this will occasionally result in me getting lucky enough that my opponent will fall into a stalemate or I can force a draw.

Patzers who chose to continue a game they have no hope of winning are just as annoying as those who run out their clock.

I have to agree. I do find people who carry on playing three queens down a lot more annoying.

I think most of the people who abandon games actually don't do it on purpose. They just get annoyed by a blunder and close the web browser instead of resigning. I have to admit, it did happen to me as well, but then I logged back in, got back into my game and resigned.

I respect what you are saying and I can see how it would be frustrating. I play this game to get better - therefore I try to play until checkmate, or the clock runs out.

What I find annoying is when it takes a player with a knight, rook, and queen seven more moves than necessary to put me in checkmate.

Chasing my king around with a pawn using only one piece is senseless. What I also find annoying is when my oppenent deems it necessary to kill off every last piece before trying to finish the game.

I'm sure we all have lots of complaints about the way others play, but it's a game. I find the all aspects of the game (beginning, middle, and end) fun.

I'll resign to an opponent and offer a rematch when I feel like my oppenent is evenly matched, or has something to teach me. In those cases I want to play as many games as I can.

How is sitting alone with a chessboard and no opponent because he left, looking at a clock part of any game?

It is the same in an official tournament. You win when you give checkmate or the opponent's time ran out.

lol do people at chess tournaments often just leave in the middle of games?

Mighty interesting to watch it, looking at a bunch of people sitting alone looking at clocks lol

I guess it is more repectul to resign but again, frustration is a key factor

I also had one person abandon after being put into a losing position and his time didn't go down at all and he didn't lose the game for abandonment so I just sat there for 15 minutes waiting before the game became a draw or something like that.

Although I also get annoyed at those who let the clock run or disconnect in bad position s, I'm aware that technical problems at times may play a role. For some reason my Kindle sometimes "freezes" during games and I cannot move, and the only recourse is to hope for the connection to improve or to try rebooting. I wonder what my opponent is thinking when this happens.

#36 and everyone

It is his right, it is anyone's right to do whatever they want if it is within the rules of the game. No one forces you to accept a 30/15/5/3 min game with a gun pointed at your head (hope not!).

You are willingly accepting the consequences by clicking play. Respect the game, respect the rules. I have only so much cheese.

Why should a little kid be commenting on forums?

If I were younger, I wouldn't...

I'm also a little kid like him, but I don't have terrible English. Or maybe he's below 8.

EXACTLY, MuhammadAreez10.

Anyway, how do we know he's a little kid??

Are we sure his avatar is him?

I usually do things like this:

When the match is found, and game hasn't yet started, I click on the player and briefly review notes left for him/about him. This usually takes 3-4 seconds tops.

If I determine that player doesn't know how to behave, I refuse to start/join the game. Problem for me is that I also get warnings that I can get my account restricted because of this, but I'm not doing anything wrong in my opinion. I strongly believe that I should have the right not to waste my time and nerves playing with rude, egoistic people with complexes.

So, if eventually my account gets restricted for real, so be it. I’m not playing this for stats and rankings, I play chess because I enjoy it, and I want to continue enjoying it.

And another thread about runners.

Why do you care so much to complain about these threads every time they appear?

One reason is that it's difficult to believe in these instances that the OP is unaware that the subject has been raised and argued ad nauseam in these forums. I note that this OP states that he did not know about this one and I do not know this to be false.

However, it is plainly obvious that in most cases, this hard core of contentious subjects is repeatedly raised deliberately by certain people in order to cause resentment and bitterness. Why they should wish to do this is beyond me, but I'm sure it happens. Some people simply like conflict.
