I have had no problem whatsoever running my Mac with Safari.
Site is bugged with Trojans!

I just ran a test to check for virus issues using this site and there are none. The origin of your virus is elsewhere. I suggest AVG. It's free and better than Norton. You most likely have an embedded virus that rears up when you go on line within certain internet sites/perameters.

I use Norton360. I've never uxperienced any problem with chess.com.
This site is safe.
Now let's stop the useless panic and get back to chess!

I ran a test of each and every page I tried with a bunch of different systems and couldn't find anything... there's NO viruses, trojans, malware or anything else on this site... I can say that with 100% confidence.

if you are getting attacked you should post the EXACT text of the attack all relevant information. your firewall/AV should provide details, etc.
i'm 100% sure the issue is on your computer, but i want to be able to help you fix it. also, i think that at least 1 antivirus/browser combination is throwing false positives and i want to contact the antivirus company to clarify.
thank you!

If you are getting virus detection warnings, please take a picture of your screen:
1. Hit the Print Screen button. It's above the Insert key on your keyboard.
2. Open Microsoft Paint. Go to the menu Edit and then Paste.
3. Save the file with the name viruswarning.jpg by going to the menu item File and then Save As
4. Go to http://tinypic.com/ and upload the image
5. Post a link to the image on chess.com or submit a help ticket to chess.com with a link to the image.
To those who are getting a warning about "chessdiagram.v49":
Correct me if I am wrong erik, but this "chessdiagram.v49" seems to just be some javascript code that the security software is falsely accusing of being a virus. Security software often gives false positives, but if one is worried, one should follow the instructions above to make an image so that knowledgable people can diagnose the problem.
I have been working with computers and web sites for years, and it is highly unlikely that chess.com is the source of these problems. An advertisement could be the source, but it is not chess.com.
Follow this guys advice. He created chess.com.

there are 50,000 people a day on Chess.com. if there were security issues we would be flooded with complaints and people wouldn't stay or buy memberships. i'm sorry to say but you are likely infected. sorry!
Erik, you requested an expert response to help the folks in this thread understand why Chess.com can't be the source of the issues the original poster is experienced. While I agree 100% that it's clearly a localized issue (i.e. on the original posters' machine, not chess.com) I don't know that I could pose an any more convincing argument than this. It's simply not conceivable that chess.com is infected with trojans that only target a single user.
My advise is to upgrade to the original poster is to your anti-virus software to one that catches and corrects this problem and to better understand what kinds of behaviour causes infection in the first place so that you can be more proactive about preventing it -- and for the record, again, simply visiting chess.com is not among these behaviours or many more would be experiencing the problem.

I have a Windows XP machine, I don't run any anti-virus, and no trouble here at all. Yes, there is something "going around", but if you have a fully updated copy of Windows with all the relevent hotfixes, you should be fine.
Also, make sure that when you get messages of the sort, "Do want to downlaod and install...?" when using Internet Explorer, you don't install any adware. Many of these are hard to detect and twice as hard to un-install.
Many people don't like Windows because of its security issues, but it's only a matter of time before the creators of malicious software will find a way to infect all machines, regardless of their choice of browser/operating system. At least with Windows, you have a much better chance of the code getting patched on a timely basis.
I haven't had any trouble with Chess.com.

In the first pic, I didn't manage to copy the window in time, but it was definitely downloading something from THIS site with the word 'exploit' in the address shown in the status bar!!!

I'm not sorry to say this isn't true. Study the UNIX architecture and you'll know why. Why people over pay for crappy operating systems is beyond me.
Windows - $260
Linux - $0.00
Windows - Anti-virus/spyware - Yes you need it
Linux - Anti-virus/spyware - No you do not need it
Windows - Support - Ok, not the best
Linux - Support - Thousands of users ready to help you out as soon as possible, and actually are happy to help you out.
Windows - choices - 2 (Windows vista home/professional)
Linux - choices - hundreds (Click here for list of top 100)
Windows - Customization - ha ha ha
Linux - Customization - You can actually build your own kernell exactly how you want it. You can actually say "I designed my own OS!"
So why is the world addicted to windows?

same reason i don't build my car from scratch or change my own oil :)

My computer is clean. I'm still getting alerts of script virus when I click on this post, other posts, and elsewhere on chess.com. A few minutes ago I was surfing through chess.com, and a 'Yahoo webcam and imaging add on' was blocked, bloodhound.exploit 196 blocked by Norton, and AntiVir found S/Dldr.Agent.RJ virus. All of these are coming from the site. It must be the ads.
Skaar, symantec says:
Our search engine was unable to find any pages related to S/Dldr.Agent.RJ.
Also, the link given earlier for HTTP Quicktime link concerning said bug, is apparently for quick time player. [which isn't required to view forum text/pages]
I noticed Symantecs only reply to this was;
Update to the latest version of Quicktime and ensure that all patches are applied.
I have twelve computers networked at home, each has been used at some point in time to connect to chess.com and live chess .. all of my computers are regularly scanned using a multitude of software bug detection for viruses, malware, spyware, adware etc.. none has ever been found.
On reading this thread, out of curiousity, i ran it again ... results came back clear.
I have found however, that with Norton, it has sometimes been somewhat over cautious in telling me something it has found has been suspicious .. but thats only suspicious to Norton, and if checked out, will be found to be normal or harmless to the computer.

wow. your computer is in SERIOUS trouble. we don't even use Apple Quicktime AT ALL on chess.com! the fact that it is trying to load quicktime, and then some "Webcam Upload"... you are in a world of hurt and you need to get it fixed FAST! first thing i would recommend is that you make sure all of your windows updates are done. then ditch your Internet Explorer browser (because it is being dominated by malware). finally, if i were in your shoes i would have a computer professional look into your computer because your computer is in BAD SHAPE and it did NOT come from Chess.com.

It doesn't do it every time. It's certain ads that are causing the problem. I kept clicking back and forth until the ad loaded and this is what happens.
