Bit of a communication issue, however nonetheless its not actually possible for your opponents to steal your time. The chess server counts down the preexisting agreement of a time parameter by second at a time. I've seen some live chess members claim that their "time" is being stolen allegedly , however as far as I can remember every case was members not understanding how "bonus time" worked. So if its a live chess game maybe you are playing a game with increments? Ie. A|x , A = any number from 1 to 120 and x being any number from 1 to 60, common increments are.... 1|1 , 2|1 , 3|2, 10|2 , 15|10. Or any other combination. If this is the case the second number denotes tells you how much extra time you gain per move so your timer will go down whilst deciding up on a move but will increase by the second number x once the move is made.

If the above does not apply to you, then it's either a bug issue and let's hope support staff can help, or you're trolling.

troll...

lol I call everybody who says this a troll because there are thousands of forums like this and everyone its either lag or bonus time...

also not even one of you bothers to search the forums first...

I am a little sensitive about this topic because I have had people lose on time to me and then compleatly spamm me with hate because i was cheating...

That is another reason why I sometime limit my games to friends only.

I'm seeing myself very strange behaviour in the last days. I can see that I have lots of time, I wait for my opponent to move, then I get a message of being disconnected (BTW, I'm hearing the radio by Internet at the same time, so I KNOW that I am NOT disconnected), the "disconnection" lasts only a couple of seconds, but then my time suddenly dissapears, and I lose on time. This happens once and again these days. Well, someone's stealing my time? I do not know, but in spite of what some say, it is not impossible, I know very well hacking is an easy task.

That happens to me. My opponents clock is ticking and I think they are going to run out of time. Then I find out it is me who is out of time and my last move has somehow not registered.

I also wondered about hacking, but I don't really think so.

Re: manalgcor. I have similar problem every day: it looks like I am waiting for my opponent to make a move (his/hers time is ticking), then all of the sudden I get a message that I lost on time! How is that possible? I am losing when waiting for my opponent to make a move!

Re: manalgcor. I got the same problem while listening to internet radios. This happens because the radio uses so much ressources that the signal from the chess.com server isn't received correctly on the computer. But the server counts only that the signal is sent and starts counting down your time => Turn your radio off and you can play live chess without any problems.

manalgcor

The radio spends very little bandwith, I think its about 30 KBytes/sec. Also, the same thing happens when not hearing the radio, only the radio has served me as an indicator of being connected.

Besides, I can connect to other pages of Chess.com while my game is still "loading".

I see its a problem of many, well.. let's hope it's just a problem on the side of the server, a problem which shall eventually be adressed.

If you move fast you get more time (i'm not saying to move really fast)

Chess.com needs to fix this problem because it has happened to me way to many times. Im very sure that they are aware of this problem as well.

Same here, My clock keeps moving normally but when it's opponents turn it turns red but the clock is not moving for about 3-4 seconds. There is a delay in the last few days for me. Don't think it's my connection. It sucks especially when there is about 20 seconds left, always lose now.

EugeneBrown

It still continues to happen. It happens more often when you are winning then the person your playing decides to steal your time. Please fix. Or suspend these accounts

It is possible you got disconnected. You can try a few things. Make sure you have the newest version of your browser, clear your cache, and disable Flash for the site.

You might also look through the following: https://support.chess.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1444918-my-internet-connection-is-fine---why-am-i-getting-disconnects-

The servers have no idea why you were disconnected.  If you do not reconnect in time, it considers it an abandoned game.

Martin_Stahl

There is also a new connection setting in the live web interface that might help some people with connection problems.
