Censored? Chess.com deleted my post

Whether intending to promote them or not it's generally frowned upon to use Chess.com's forums to give air-time to the competition. I saw your thread -- I'm actually surprised it was up as long as it was.

Why should they allow people to promote other sites? that doesn't help this site one bit, I don't blame them. I'd probably do the same
And what makes you so sure that's the right way to compete? well, even if it is, it's certainly not the best way to compete

try putting up burger king posters in a mcdonalds. or even taking a "which is the best hamburger joint" surveys of their customers. we try to allow a lot in our forums, but we're also a private organization and we're not excited about advertising for competition.

Hmm... I started a thread this morning asking @ alternatives to Chess.com live chess for when live chess here is down. There was one reply and now it looks like that thread has been deleted - at least it does not appear under "posts I have started."
I guess it is within Chess.com's purvue to delete any post they want but it seems a tad heavy handed to delete posts asking about alternatives. The right way to compete is by making live chess the best - not by stifling discussion or censoring.
(and fwiw - I was asking because I wanted to play and live chess here was not functional for me for several hours)
And im sure you would have no problem with people coming into your business and asking your customers where they can find a really good alternative...
