Games starting randomly

Frequently, two or three moves into a live game, a second game will begin and become the active game. I can select the other game and ignore it, and it will automatically abort. In some cases, though, bad timing will cause me to move in it when I thought that I was moving in the other.

Now I'm playing two games at once, which was not my plan.

This morning after a game, I did not send another seek, but left my computer for a bit. When I returned, my screen showed that another game had begun and been aborted.

How do games begin when I have neither accepted a seek nor offered one?

If you are the only one having this issue (first time I have heard of it, and have not experienced it) I would call it a technical difficulty.   From there, knowing nothing at all, I would say it could be one of the following...

1) need to update java & browser and so on for your platform? (likely)

2) could have a hardware problem with your mouse or similar device? (likely)

3) could have malware.  Highly unlikely, but I have seen some that click for you (trying to hit ads on the page).

4) other hardware problems (ram going bad, possibly, as a prime candidate) (Highly unlikely).

5) using a non-PC platform to play (?) that is slightly incompatible?  Or an obscure browser that is incompatible?  Etc?  (very likely).

Any details can help... OS/Platform/browser as a start.

1) everything is up to date

2) doubtful.

3) unlikely. Protection software working and up to date. (Of course, there could be something new that I've picked up, but my browsing habits are safe.

4) Computer is six months old.

5) N.A.

Windows 7. Chrome.

I have a hunch that some instances stem from my seek not expiring when I accept another's seek. I first noticed the problem shortly after chess.com made it possible to play simuls in live.

My first word in the post, "frequently," is not particularly accurate, except that NEVER is the expected norm. Having played over 500 live games on chess.com in May, I've experienced this issue perhaps a dozen times. Yesterday was the only accidental simul.

The second issue may be a slightly different problem, or may be another manifestation of the same glitch.

Could be a server side issue or bug in the scripts.  If so, anyone else seeing this problem?

I would say try to make it happen in another browser just to troubleshoot at it.  But I don't have a lot of other ideas.

Ziryab,

When seeking for a game, you are using the new game" tab correct? firstly, make sure to have your cookies and cache cleared.

Second, when you click that orange submit button, make sure to only click it ONCE. If you click it twice or three times, it will be sending out 3 individual challenges. Which is why multiple games are starting.

Let me know if you need any more details :)

this happens to me a lot- what happens is i'll hit the rematch button, then the new game button, and then the rematch will be accepted, but the seek doesn't get cancelled.
