Ya, it is still a thing, like fer sure.

If you believe you have been cheated, you have to report the user. Use the report button on their profile (looks like an !). They can only examine so many reports a day.

Did you see the Q&A Danny Rensch and @Monitor gave at the Isle of Man tournament?  https://www.twitch.tv/videos/326816791

They reported that 70 to 80 are auto- booted every day. More are booted after review.

Thousands of accounts are reviewed every month.

Thanks for the info , I haven't gotten the message for credit since Sept 1st ( after receiving the credit message 5 times from June 12th to Sept 1st. then nothing ) ,I didn't know if was still being done or not.

Most of the time its usually just suspicion,  I don't know for sure my opponent is engine until weeks later as I review my losses, guess I should just report them when I see it even if its weeks later.

Camel1001

Heh don't know about chesscomistan , after 6 credits from June 8 through Sept 1st? not a single credit since Sept 1st? 100s of games and not a single credit in 3 months? Something isn't working lol

Camel1001

What happened to this feature?

Its statically impossible to play as many games as I have, over the past five months, and not get credit from some of these rampant  engine users.

I disagree that it is statistically  impossible. You are a 1600. Statistically, few cheaters bother to target low rated players. (I'm only a 1500.)

You can read about it in the cheating forum.

How many have you actually reported?

/ The Cheating Forum is where many people , some with actual facts, discuss these things.

/ Nobody stole the remote control either.

If this was even remotely accurate then I would never have received  credit for less then 4 months of games when this feature was introduced.

It is the internet , so engine users are to be expected , I just enjoyed logging in and getting the message about cheats being booted was all.

KarlMags

Last month I lost to a cheater, reported the account and it got banned. However, I didn't get my rating points back. When I contacted with chess.com, I was told that "currently the ratings are not refunded for all players found to be cheating" (don't know why), but they refunded my points, anyway. So if you are sure that you lost to a cheater, contact a staff member and ask for your points ;) I now started checking the profiles of every opponent before making a move. If the account is very new or has a ridiculous w/l ratio, I aboard the game.

DoZpainter

After a game that I lost, game report shows my opponent has 94.8% accuracy.  I would like to know if a 94.8% accuracy is reasonable.  Any suggestions or comments?

nyku13

Who was your opponent and how long did the game last?

DoZpainter

We played in a tournament game where we used 34 moves.  I had just beaten him in a simultaneous game 13 moves where he had 40% accuracy.

nyku13

Was it a theoretical battle? If not, such a high accuracy rate is very unlikely but not impossible to achieve. If there were lots and lots of forcing sequences, then it just might be plausible. Maybe you won against your opponent the first time by using an opening he/she is not familiar with or something. I really can't be sure.

DoZpainter

I agree that the Accuracy number seems very contextual and relative.  Also, is this feature new to the game auto analysis

nyku13

I am pretty sure that it is not a new feature. And yeah, if you won with a computer-prepared variation then you could theoretically get 100%.

Camel1001

Bump ,  8 months since original post ,  1 credit for engine users in 8 months ( impossible when I have maybe 1000 games in 8 months ) ......... I have changed one thing in the past 8 months though , I almost never reported anyone , now , I don't even bother checking and confirming if my opponent is a engine. If I even remotely think my opponent is using a engine I just say fuck it . I click report

I really wish the site had never added this feature only to remove it.

Euthyphro399

I receive those once in a while. To be honest, I almost never feel that my opponents were cheating. I think I only felt it twice.

That's why it seems so odd to me when low rated player say that they cannot go up because of cheaters.

Camel1001

I never said or claimed I couldn't go up , I am ranked where I should be.

When this feature was first introduced and I received so many credits for such a short window of games I just assumed that was the norm.

Maybe this first batch of credits for such a small window of games was just a aberration . but I doubt it.

On one of my recent losses , a game that went maybe 20 moves , my opponent had a 99% accuracy with both us us ranked in 1600s.... 99% perfect according to chess.com own analysis thing. As I look back over my game history I do indeed see the icon showing some of my former opponents banned for cheating , so they are being caught and kicked , just no reimbursements.

cyboo

Just relax, Camel. Sometimes you lose, and your opponent simply outplayed you. I bet some of the people you beat sometimes suspect you of cheating as well.

Everyone has their bad days and good days.

SpiritoftheVictory

I plan on using the site for mainly learning the game. Maybe playing Daily games only...

tonysamehayoub

Just out of curiosity: how do they detect cheaters?

Do they find that he plays too good for his rating?
