One often hears the question asked-‘Do you prefer cats or dogs ‘ It is not a sensible question:it is not even reasonable question, because you cannot compare the incomparable. ‘ Would you sooner own a cat or a dog ? is a little more sensible, but the answer must almost invariably depend on the circumstances.
If you are a man who shoots, you want a working gun dog , but if you are old and unable to get about much , a cat who exercises itself and who sits in front of the fire or on your knee, will certainly make a more suitable companion than a dog
You cannot compare cats with dogs . One might as well ask ‘ Do you prefer eggs and bacon or a game of golf ? The truth is -and it is not always recognised- that the more obedient a dog is and the better it is trained for its work , the more it becomes a ‘ slave ‘ to its master , however willing that slave may be , and the more it loses its own independence of thought and action This never happens with a cat . Within very narrow limits, a cat can be taught a certain amount of obedience and will invent games and pastimes for itself, but not at the behest of the owner . A cat can become just as devoted and affectionate as any dog , but never slavishly.
Hi, guys. I want people to post their opinions of whether cats or dogs are better. I will comment every so often on information I find interesting.
