Ask Me Anything! NM Edition

What made you play chess?
when i was a little boy, and had nothing to do, I started searching the web for "video games". I stumbled across chesskid.com, and there we go. GO CHESSKID!!!

Since you've went through the whole Chess journey to +2000 rating, are there any tips you would give to beginners? Like what I'm trying to ask is, were there any mistakes that you now look back upon, and realized that if you didn't make those mistakes, you would have progressed a lot faster?

Do you plan on becoming a GM and how long do you think it will take to get there?
I sure do plan on becoming a GM! (It's my ultimate dream). I hope to reach these goals:
FM: in 2 years
IM: 2 more years
GM: anywhere from 5-15 years all seem feasible to me.
I sure hope I get GM, sooner or later. If I don't I'll be kinda sad

The biggest mistake is playing too many games. Once I went to this massive boot camp, and I gained like 50 points. I ended up attending 3 tourneys a month for a whole year, and barely improved. Studying is very important. I have a blog post about when you should play more, and when you should study more. https://www.chess.com/blog/EnergeticHay/the-2-best-ways-to-improve

Do you have any book recommendations or lesson recommendations?
Also, at what age did you become NM ?

Overall, almost any book will teach you valuable knowledge. I have some book recommendations on my blog (you can find the link on my profile).
I got NM this year, in January. I can't reveal my age, but I am a teenager.

How did you become an NM?
I had been stuck at 2100 rating for about 2 years before I got NM. I studied hard, (about 2 hours a day) for the final year and that's what got me there. I also learned some new openings. The openings themselves didn't do much, but my understanding of chess as a whole improved greatly.

How did you make your club so good?
Well, I have a blog so I already had some followers. Once I started my blog, people just started joining. I also used all 30 daily invites.
Check out my blog post on how to manage a club here.

Hello all,
Many people have been posting notes on my profile asking for advice and all, and I've tried to make blog posts to accommodate for that. So I'm here to answer any questions you have.
