Todays culture has become anti-intellectual and completely existentialist/New Age/feelings-oriented.
When smart people see that those views are logically incompatible with actual living, they give them up. That’s why we’re bullied. Heck, too many religious people fall for these views without realizing it, and when a scholar comes along and tries to prove them wrong, the person just claims they’re personally attacking them. They’re not personally attacking you; they’re merely offering an intellectual argument. If anything you believe, regardless of what it is, doesn’t have a rational basis, I wouldn’t expect it to be met with positive feedback by intelligent people. They may even laugh at it

I'm sorry, but #13 is absolutely hilarious. Melvin and Lincoy started to get some meat on this. The dumbing down of America was put in place so that young folks couldn't make proper decisions in the world. They are defunding education left and right. You don't learn anything in high school. Go to college, even Junior College. College teaches you to teach yourself, which is the most important thing in life. Get a good grounding in Algebra. Then listen to Mike Rowe, the Ambassador of Working. Also Studs Terkel, 'Working' published back in the eighties, I think, and then he did an updated version I haven't read. Every page is someone in the US talking about their work. The Geeks in the seventies turned out to be Freaks just like us and we all ruled the world until Clinton got booted. It's sad that smart people are made fun of. People in our government are shouted down for even speaking a foreign language. Take Latin. I used to feel sorry for all my friends who had to study Latin. Now I wish I had. They're the ones making money.

They want a working force to make money for the corporation so the top 1% can get richer

That's what's great about Mike Rowe. He points out that there are many different ways to make money, and do what you want to do in life, without going to college. Good luck saving money. We are a Debtor Nation, when we used to be a Creditor Nation. Everyone used to have a savings account, and we drew a pretty good interest rate on it. That's all gone and no-one saves, everyone has credit cards, or none at all, and is in debt. Don't get me started on Corporations. Imagine this, Employee Owned Corporations.

Mike Rowe is alright from what I have seen and read of him. He got a degree in communications and probably would have ended up as a typical corporate drown if it wasn't for television.
