For the last time, choose which site you prefer, but stop making it a battle between both sites as if they are bitter rivals. Simple as that happy.png.

Their partisans seem to be bitter rivals. Most sensible people, however, have a premium membership here and are patrons at Lichess. Just think: for $160 a year you can have diamond here and eagle's wings on Lichess!

I do think that both sites spur one another on to make improvements. Both have added a substantial number of enhancements the past two years. Game analysis and insights have gotten better on both sites. Lichess improved their PGN implementation and game download feature (something I complained about for years).

yessss mostly agree with you @Ziryab but I am flailing around trying to use the new chess.com analysis X|

I am not sure if it is glitchy or what, but I can't look at the best move (instead of the rubbish we played) and then investigate the line of it without it all going seriously pear shaped. Plus it doesn't list as many moves in the line as it used to.

awful to say, but i considered bundling up the whole game i was looking at yesterday from c.c and exporting it all for analysis to you know where, voldechess.

so USUALLY things are an improvement eventually but sometimes you just want them to stop changing for a bit longer. ( realizes have said very similar things about microsoft after XP )

viruschidai

i like both

What's the situation with Lichess anti cheat software? Not as good as here? (expects this to be the most common answer)

I have to agree with GinaRook about Thibault and the guys who run lichess. It's probably the only complaint about lichess I can think of...Thibault comes off as quite arrogant and unpleasant, and so do the other mods from what I've seen. The one interaction I had with Thibault was when I asked why he removed the feature that allowed you to cherry-pick opponents by rating, which was one of my favourite features that separated lichess from chess.com. he was unable to give a reason why it was removed and ended up responding with some snarky remark like "if you don't like it then go to another site".

In contrast, Danny Rensch, Erik and such, all seem like nice guys, and even though chess.com makes alot of mistakes they are always friendly about it happy.png

and @Shaun is amazing thumbup.png the thing is though, no one can nail PR perfectly the first time, ask any govt or any corporation. The less money they have probably the less time you have to sugar coat answers and enter into discussions.

but of course when each of us feels they have been treated in a negative way they react with their feet and defensively rather than with our brain and keep emotions out of it. That's just humans, all of us, pretty much.

Agreed

I remember another incident where lichess muted me for no reason, without telling me I was muted. I posted probably dozens of times on various threads for maybe a week before I realised that nobody was acknowledging my posts so I must be muted. I "appealed" and got some robot response telling me that they wouldn't unmute me and I had to wait some arbitrary no. of days before appealing again.

At least when chess.com mutes me for no reason they let me talk to a human to appeal and get unmuted straight away tongue.png

Because it makes you feel better about yourself by giving you a higher rating?

Chess.com:

lichess is better because everything is free

chess is better because better UI (imo) and more customization

also the people here are cooler

they both suck in their own ways though
