Never had dreams of chess, but several years ago when I was playing a lot of bridge and working in a deli I imagined that a customer came in and paid for lasagna with the Ace of spades. I thought, gotta give it to him, he's got the Ace. It didnt really happen, just in my mind haha

dreams can show us many answers --- time to erase all else and think with out trying so hard.
One chess dream kept me awake. Thinking of how it could have gone different. I was on the verge of winning the tournament when I blundered. Had a hard time getting to sleep.

i had a chess dream where i "discovered" a new opening. it was the fried liver.
I have dreamt about missing the perfect photo before, (definitely falling into the nightmare category as a photographer) but never chess. I wouldn't doubt that I someday will though!

I was amazed at the time I solved a hard math question in my sleep. Had struggled all day and night with it.... as I slept... i figured it out. Shocked me is all........ So was wondering if anyone did that with their chess moves. I am not that good at chess to be able to map out the moves and know the strategy.... but I know some play enough to know the board thoroughly... just wondered if they ever actually play chess and solve puzzles in their dreams.
Interesting topic. As a vivid dreamer most of mine concern work usually impossible situation s. Like driving down road with crane up thru bridges or melting diamonds in a drill hole due to negligence. As much chess as I play I am surprised not had one about chess.
I dont think I ever had a chess dream. Mabey I had one but I dont remember it.

I've only occasionally dreamed about chess, and the problems never made sense. The boards were kind of nonsensically structured. It feels like when you try to look at a clock in your dreams and the numbers don't make sense.
Sometimes I do have chess dreams, and these are very different from the usual colourful and memorable story dreams. For me, it's never one recognizable game or move or combination, but something more like a moving blueprint of certain openings or endgames, positional themes, etc.
I don't get the feeling there's anything concrete being 'solved' in the dreams, but I do have the strange feeling of looking at some kind of vast memory bank of typical structures and something deeper and not entirely known going on.
