Outside, where you can get a better look of the surrounding environments and the people and the city at large (and where others can get a better look at you), has a middle sized and steady stream of people walking from left to right, all doing things you would think you would see in a place like this. Fishermen fishing fish fishily, people walking by while looking at their phones, groups of friends discussing really loudly about nothing in particular.

Some people do give you all weird looks, but that's all there is to it. You all (except Clover and maybe Xano) look strange to the animal people of this world. Xano looks weird because he's naked (by their standards). On a big sign near the docks are what is presumably the name of the town, the big bright and bold letters of WHALEGATE shining above the urban mass, like a billboard, or a gravestone with the words you don't want to read and the name you never wanted to see etched into stone, or in this case, into bright painted wood block letters.

Anyway, there isn't exactly a set way or direction for you all to go, so you have to just wing it and just walk around until you find this underground location. Or dig straight down and hope you find it first try, but there's the obvious downside of breaking construction and zoning laws if you do that.

There's not a lot of places immediately visible that show a way down below. In fact, going further in the city it kind of slopes upward, the lowest point being the rocky shores where you just were. From the looks of it, despite all the people the town is pretty small and self-contained. There's not that many landmarks around, mainly just the lighthouse a fair bit to the right, a bakery, and then a bunch of houses.

It's while you're surveying the surrounding area when there's a voice that's keenly familiar to at least one of you in the party. A male voice rings out, a bell tolling somewhere, the wolf catches the moon, the past catches up with the present.

"Hey! Hey! Excuse me, hello, you there!"

Clover’s ear raises and she turns, which she immediately regrets. She had been, until now, walking slouched so as to not be seen (which only made her more visible), so you can see her pop up and look at the source of the voice.

All of this was a mistake…

Avatar of Got-Dead

The source of the voice seems to be a walking talking frog. When Clover turns around and makes herself noticeable, the frog person blinks multiple times, rubs his eyes (I don't know frog biology), squints for a long second, before turning into a ray of sunshine with how much he's glowing. He prances over in a froggy way all the way to Clover, who he then takes by the shoulders.

"Oh my Grand Flower, it really is you!"

The frog makes a bunch of spluttering noises as he attempts to find his words among the jumbled mess that is his brain at the moment.

"I-I thought you were dead! This-this is a miracle! An honest miracle! Wow!"

Clover remains paralyzed.

Avatar of Got-Dead

Hoppers pauses a bit, and pulls back from the near embrace, trying to figure out what’s wrong and how he can fix this.

“Are you alright? What happened?? Is something wrong? Do you need help????? Also, who are these people?”

That last portion is directed toward the motley delivery crew, who look pretty strange and I’m 90% sure that at least one of you is open carrying a deadly weapon.

Avatar of breadwithbean

Clover tries to say something (an apology? An explanation?). But all that comes out is incoherent blabbering that barely sounds like speech.

" We're trying to find the underground location thing where we're supposed to deliver the package to. Do you know the way? " *Alice asks the frog *

Avatar of Got-Dead

With no real luck from Clover and no real way forward without being more intrusive (something that Hoppers doesn't want to risk now), he turns to Alice.

"An....underground place? I mean, I haven't seen such a pla-... No, actually, I think I did see one, right in Old Man Pinch's lighthouse, a hole that opened up after.... well..."

He pauses for a second, considering the best way he can phrase it without accidentally setting off any emotional minefields.

"A very big event happened."

Given a bit more time to think on the situation, he turns back around to Clover.

"So! Where've you been? Oh! The rest of the ol' band will probably want to see you, I have their numbers right here, don't you worry, we've been really worried for you."

Hoppers digs around wherever he keeps his phone.

Clover uses this brief window to back off from Hoppers.

"No one but you wants to see me", she thinks, but doesn't say.

"Oh... And where's the old man pinch's lighthouse? "*She asks Hoppers*

"The lighthouse? It's pretty obvious where it is, right over there,"

Hopper says, gesturing toward the lighthouse shaped lighthouse, painted white and red with stripes going down its sides, a bulwark on the rocky cliffs against the raging shore and sea to your general east, a bit away from the main part of town. Hoppers finally pulls out his phone, and presses at it frantically, swiping and tapping, hesitating between a text and a call before finally deciding to call.

"Hey! Lily! You'll never believe what happened! I-it's a- oh you'll just have to come down to the docks to see it! Hurry!"

He's positively hopping (badum tssssshhh), elated, excited out of his own mind. But he remembers Clover, realizes that something is pretty wrong (so he must fix it), and shifts into emotional bomb-defuser mode.

"If you're uh- (what could I say?) sad- then I'm here (are these the right words to be using?) for you."

Avatar of Raphael

*Alice looks at the lighthouse*" Oh..."*looks at hoppers*" Thank you!"

Avatar of breadwithbean

Clover walks backwards further upon the mention of Lily.

”D-don’t.”

She swallows.

“I’m… I’m sorry…” Her voice nearly choked out from the tears. “I really am, but… you don’t get it.” Her hands tremble.

Avatar of Got-Dead

"Oh. Um, well th-"

Whatever thing Hoppers was going to say to continue the conversation is cut short by a sudden rumbling of the earth, akin to an earthquake. It lasts just a few seconds and isn't too disruptive or destructive, only a slight tremor and miniscule shaking, but enough to knock some dust loose off the nearby houses. People resume what they were doing not long after, like this is a natural occurrence.

Remember, you have a job to do. You're here to deliver a package. The recipient is getting pretty impatient right now.

Avatar of Raphael

" hey! Let's continue our work! "* Alice said to the group as she walks to the old man pinch's lighthouse *
