Grass is always greener on the other side?
Foreign Players
Yes but isn't a little peculiar ? I like to think that since I have so much ancestry in my DNA that I feel like I have a common thread with people from other lands. Now I was born and raised in the U.S.A. however, I feel a tie to people from around the world. After all we are more alike , than different, n"est pas?
Just a clarification on what I mean by foreign players...someone who lives outside the contiguous U.S. Alaskans and Hawians included.
Because of my time zone, I do play many Americans and Canadians, which is fine with me. What makes this game so enjoyable and intimate is that no matter who you are or where you live, chess is the common language we all share. I harbor no bias or prejudice against anyone based on their national origin. When issue a challenge to play a game, I'm always glad when someone no matter where they live. accepts. Aggie
I understand your caste system from the 19th century. However do you consider and or accept all fellow chess players as comrades, no matter what their rating or national origin? Or are you stuck in the Victorian era of you great nation?
I think you are skirting the issue,as you usually do with clever retorts and vague statements. I wish for once you would say what you really feel and what issues are important to you, without protecting yourself under the aegis of sarcasm and enigmatic comments. I'sure you can do better of you wish to .
Listen I have graver issues to deal with now. Hurricane Irma is bearing down on my part of the world. Dont want your best wishes, although they will be appreciated, I believe in the Doris Day song from the fifties,"Que sera, sera. Hope I spelled that correctly, if not I,m sure I,ll be criticized . Aggie
Take care. Qué será, será, otherwise it sounds like "what a wax, wax" spelled by a Southern Spaniard.
There's just something interesting playing people from places that you never hear about or don't even know where they are, cultures you'de never otherwise meet
Many years ago, the Atlas in British schools, was pink. It denoted the spread of the British Empire throughout the globe. Spain and France conquered the rest of the globe.Ex-colonial America can only watch and weep.
The evil legacy of colonization

There was also the time the US saved the supposedly great British empire from annihilation in a little thing called World War 2 when the Germans beat the crap out of them. It was a confusing time for Britian what with the royals being pro Nazi, I suppose it has something to do with the royal family being German originally.
I cant explain it, but I truly enjoy playing against people from other countries. I don't care if they are from Canada,China, or the Philippines , I.d rather play them then my fellow countrymen. As odd as that may seem to you, its the absolute truth. Do any of you have a theory as to why this is so?
