Getting blocked for no reason

Also, I do understand why you think playing chess face to face is better, but more and more people are playing online chess because of its convenience:

I now that. [spelling mistake. know. I'll leave it there. It demonstrates my shift from written history to oral history. I tend to spell things the way they sound, now.]

I played on Yahoo Chess long before Chess.com or Lichess came around.

Story Time, children.

I got banned on Lichess for exactly this.

A topic of a forum.

What super power would you like to have?

People list super powers from comic books.

I said, verbatim:

I am a US citizen. America is a Superpower!

Lichess is based in France.

This is the world we live in.

There is nothing wrong about being proud of your country! However, you do have to understand that your posts have to be relevant to the topic in the OP, or you can get in trouble. You got banned because it is implied that "super power" in this context means something that no human can do without equipment, such as the ability to fly, super speed, etc. You did not understand this, and you probably did not think that "super power" has two different meanings.

I know it has two different meaning.

That is why it is a joke.

I learned that joke in the movie The Men Who Stare at Goats.

"America will be the first superpower with super powers."

Ok, Here it goes. I will explain the joke.

I don't need super powers.

I'm a US citizen. America is a superpower. As an American, I already have super powers.

Ok. Now we are explaining jokes, as I complained that I shouldn't have to explain jokes.

The problem is that most people will not take that as a joke, especially people from other countries, which is most likely why you were banned.

Think about it.

The post is about super powers.

And everybody list super powers from comic books they want to have.

I said.

I'm a US citizen. America is a superpower.

It is a joke.

But think about it.

I'm the only one who doesn't want or need any super powers.

Courage, hardwork, and freedom is what built America, built America into a superpower.

Those are real super powers.

It is a joke.

But it not even a joke.

It is real!

The power you seem to be lacking is called "reading the room."

I read it fine.

The room is stupid.

You just called more than 7 billion people stupid, and are complaining why you have been blocked.

What he probably means is that you get off topic, and give some logic to prove your point (not to be rude).

The topic is: What super powers do you want to have?

I am on topic. More on topic than anybody.

I am the only one who says you don't need any "super powers", only the power you already have within yourself.

Everyone else is off topic, as in they are off the mark, as in archery, now that I have to explain everything in minute details.

Is that true? That is the only thing that matters.

Besides @SriyogeshS

I didn't learn from anybody here. As in they have nothing to teach.

You should have just said this instead of talking about America.

Forget it, we are trying to provide a solution to you and if you are not ready to accept it then there is no purpose for this forum.

You are probably right about that last part, since I basically just elaborated on what he or she said, and looking at the other posts you are showing a resistance to change and learning. People think you are stupid because you call the room stupid, hence you were blocked.

Communication is a skill. If you notice that people are reacting negatively to your attempts to communicate, it probably means that your communication skills are lacking.

You could either:

1) Try to understand where your communication faltered, so that you can strive to communicate better.

or

2) Point the blame at others, and conclude that they simply don't understand or appreciate your wit.

The choice is yours.

I can agree, but atleast the others have tried to give a reasoning, which for some reason he doesn't respond to. I've tried to give him a reasoning in every way, from explaining to even taking other things as examples. And I assume he was never really looking for a solution.

You got blocked for a reason. You might not know what that reason is (although it seems obvious to me), but there was a reason that you were blocked.

Avatar of Chessisfunforme

actually, he or she probably is. Note that the OP joined in 2014.

Again with the language.

Everybody does everything for a reason.

In this context, it means reasonable.

Again, I thought it was self-evident.

In the movie Unbreakable - 2000. The comic book artist/villain said:

"Super powers are only exaggerations of the powers we already have."

I thought everybody who reads comic books already know that.
