Okay so about a week ago I get called twice by a number I dont know. I answer, thinking that I get to mess with a scam caller. It's not a scam caller. They start saying "ashley finally you answered"

..I'm not Ashley

I hang up and they call again. I don't answer. Then they leave me a voice mail saying things like "calling with a lawyer on the line" "Ashley I'm not playing your game this isn't funny" and then he wraps up the voice mail by saying "our son needs us" the voice mail sounded very threat ening. I text the phone number telling them to please stop contacting me bc this isn't Ashley. They tell me sorry and then say "this is a life or death situation"

I'm quite confused by this point but soon forget about it.

UNTIL TODAY. The number calls my twice and leave a voice mail. The voice mail says "Ashley you better answer the phone" and things that sound just as th reatening. They then leave me a text saying that it's been going on for too long and how I need to be a better spouse and answer. ... IM NOT ASHLEY OR OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE A SPOUSE LEAVE ME ALONE. so then I text the number saying I'm not Ashley and they need to stop contacting me or I'll block them.

Block them and possibly report to the police.

No, make a thread on chess.com about it!

The solution here is to politely text them saying that have the wrong number, and then blocking the number. They shouldn't have your name, address or any information, so it's not like they can do anything. It's likely:

1. A prank

2. An elaborate scam

I would say in this case that's the kind of number you would just block at once in my honest opinion.

If it was, they would send letters to their address instead of calling. Just block the number.

#6 yes. Always make a chess.com thread about everything serious and potentially dangerous!! Yay !!!!

it might just be like a prank call or somehting, but if it is they're taking it too far so it might actually not be one..

yeah, there was a guy whose house was being broken into.

so he made a chesscom forum asking for people’s advice on what to do.

i hope he got the advice he needed.
