HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT TO ACCEPT A FRIEND REQUEST?

Well enough, overall. Gearing up for summer. I'm impatient for the nights to get warm enough for camping. Soon, soon. And the kayak racks are going back on the truck.

I just save bother and reject all of them. I did accept one guy, though, because we had a short discussion on trains.
My husband likes trains. I married him anyway!

I used to have a good handful of friends on here after I joined but realized that popularity contests weren't really for me. And that's probably because I learned how social media worked several years ago on LinkedIn and Facebook. Also, most of the users on here aren't mature enough to have a deep and meaningful conversation to begin with, so the desire to "friend" people on here basically evaporated. Sometimes I'll get caught off guard and find someone interesting to chat with though, which is a nice surprise. But whenever that happens I'll definitely let them know by messaging them afterwards. I've done that several times in the past for proper etiquette. That's really how it should be done before you friend someone in my opinion.

Well. Well well Pegasus !just spotted this whilst browsing.
Do you still rap rap rap?
Btw what happened to Hiram ?
He seems to have completely vanished.

Yes, I still rap. And Hiram DID visit one of my recent forums. He's still playing chess but is rarely on the otf page. I miss him. We argue a lot but no one makes me laugh harder.

Yeah, messaging... I'm not much for messaging. I've gotten used to it with family and a couple friends but, overall, I'm not a fan. I'd much, much rather talk with someone. The voice carries a world of information in addition to the words.

Absolutely - trying to denote tone of voice is pretty impossible visually.

I was thinking about this today as I was accepting one friend request but then declining another. The second person was a young man without a shirt, with "I Love Myself" as a message to the chess.com community. I didn't care for his narcissistic attitude nor for his absence of a shirt! I have other guidelines, which I'll share with you eventually but first, I'm interested in finding what YOUR guidelines are. Remember, no names are to mentioned when discussing a declined friend request.
This post clearly states that I will NOT accept a friend request from a guy who is NOT wearing a shirt. Just now, 3 guys in a row, all within seconds of each other, sent me these kind of friend requests. Apparently, they have NOT visited this forum.

There was another bunny on the forums totally running around naked
