if you look at the bowling though , Cummins will give 4 good overs , Mavi will be expensive , Southee will be expensive , Narine is average and Chak is also most prob gonna be expensive . Even RCB has a better bowling lineup .

What about the format? This year has a completely new format, and i find it very weird. If i had the choice, then i would like a format like this:

All 10 teams play 13 matches minimum(league stage + group stage).

All teams play each other once, therefore total 9 games per team. Each win gives 2 points, draw/NR 1 point, loss 0.

Now, divide the points table into two halves: top 5 and bottom 5. The top 5 teams all play each other, and bottom 5 teams all play each other. Each win here gives 3 points, draw/NR 1 point, loss 0. That's 4 games for each team, so each team has now played 9 + 4 = 13 games.

Now, draw up the points table(combined points table for league and group stage). The top 4 teams with most points qualify for knockouts. The first placed team directly goes to the final. The third and fourth teams play an eliminator, loser is eliminated. Winner of 3rd vs 4th plays second, and the winner goes to the final.

What do you think about this format?

That would unfair for like #5 and #4 because they will play stronger teams and advantageous for #6 because they will play weaker teams ( after the league stage ) , if you were to use that format , then the seeding should be done so both groups are equally strong , but then there would be no point of having a league stage and then a group stage .

The point of having first league and then group stage is that, in the group stage, you can play teams of your strength, and you get more points for beating about equal teams.

in IPL , the competition is always tough in the middle and they are almost always on the same number of wins , but then the #6 can run away with the playoff spot if it gets to play weaker teams.

that's the reason why the top 4 are decided based on the overall points table which contains points earned in both league and grp stage. #6 will have less points than no 4 , so no 6 will have to win more games in the grp stage to go thru

4 games can completely change the standings in IPL
