I can only start threads where I ask what letter I'm thinking of.
(hint: it's z)
Chess brainfreeze can suddenly strike while you are in a tight endgame wondering whether it might be better if stalemate were not allowed.
This is precisely why I spend the bulk of my time here in these forums as opposed to playing brain-cell-killing games.

+1. Just say "no" to chess.
Wow! Thanks, DrSpudnik for starting this obviously fascinating, instantly successful forum so quickly after I suggested it. About the fact that you took My idea -- well, I feel no resentment, no bitterness --- only a certain wistfulness, as I ask myself, "Oh, MIL, when will you stop hiding your light under a bushel? -- letting others grab the glory while you work quietly behind the scenes?"
Note*** As this demonstrates, chess is bad for the brain because it exacerbates competitive instincts, and leads to the habit of getting all worked up about absolutely nothing! (It's a good thing that I was such a well-balanced person before I started playing chess. That's why I took this whole issue so calmly.)
The idea has been floated out, and I think it may have merit.
It's pretty clear that chess is a stressful, irritating game that may wreck one's nerves or foster a feeling that others are out to get you.
Have YOU been ruined by chess?
