And Jimmy Buffett, all those years in the sun.

Hopefully he is enjoying a cheeseburger in paradise. Sail on my friend.

I started a Buffett thread. No traction so far...

Wow, I had not heard until now. I’ll edit my last post. RIP Jimmy.

There was some chatter in one of the clubs but I haven’t seen anything in Off Topic either (other than your post). Not too surprised, I don’t think a lot of these kids would know who he is.

Johnny Cash, an icon in the truest sense of the word. I’ve known hard core metal enthusiasts to country lovers to punksters who all loved the Man in Black. They don’t make ‘em like that any more.

I've experienced the same. Probably the only country artist to transcend the genre. Admittedly I don't know much about country.

Country music is still out there, but you won’t hear it over the air waves. Today’s “country” is something entirely different and exists only to line the pockets of promoters and labels, much like those that elevate the Bieber and Cyrus sideshows over and above genuine artists. Cash transcended the genre by his vocal support of the commoners and giving the finger, quite literally, to the establishment. Near the end of his life and career, producer Rick Rubin certainly helped introduce Cash’s work to new audiences.

I'm still getting those jerky popups from Wikipedia. They have no shame...
