Level 666

On Spider Solitaire, I just reached level 666. What should I do? I don't want to stop because I'm addicted but it's such a good number. Please help.

That's a serious dilemma.

Avatar of Optimissed

Yes. I really like Spider Solitaire because it's a serious challenge which I find enjoyable. I didn't want to move off 666 so I played six levels of tri-peaks and bored myself silly doing it. Previously I did 56 levels of Pyramid, with the same result. But I find Spider Solitaire more relaxing than boring.

Yes, a Dial Emma!

You have already blundered by moving past level 616, the true number of the beast. I would sleep with one eye open...

Oh I see. I'm still on 666. I took up with TriPeaks. Not as enjoyable by far but good mental exercise played fast. I think I'm an Ace. No, a Champion. When level 100 is attained, in 9 levels' time, I may return to Spider.

when you get to level 69420 then the gods will swoop down from the sky and gift you with an everlasting uno reverse card

What are they?

After reaching level 101 on Tripeaks the other day, I gave up and started back on Spider Solitaire.

I've had friends and girlfriends who are satanists (or some other sort of more playful degenerate such as "wiccan"). I've been around all sorts of occultism and read a bunch of it.

It's amazingly lame, and I have loads of funny stories. Anti-christianity stuff is immature drivel for zoomers - or for people stuck in the past where it was legit rebellious.

I typically stick up for Christians (despite being an atheist). I'm also part Romani which is quite religious, see the benefits of it on a culture, and can maybe compare/contrast in a slightly different way. [although I've been told by strangers that we apparently have magical powers. If it were a video-game, I'd be resistant to all curses.]

No offence at all, Opti. Think you are a decent poster generally even when I disagree with tomfoolery.

Avatar of Optimissed

I'm sorry but I can't see where we disagree. Can you spell out where we disagree, pls?

Avatar of Problem5826

Getting on at Christians.

Avatar of Optimissed

Why is that your impression?

Another topic was closed, then you made a topic about prayer.

I was thinking, "some sort of dig? Benefit of the doubt".

Then I see 666 lol

I've also read people's opinions in private clubs, so know where they are coming from.

Revelation chapter 13 verse 18 is where 666 is mentioned in the bible. Not as something to be admired

I don't contribute much to clubs. I made the thread about prayer to try to help out those who made the original thread but it was no use. Nobody seems capable of discussing it without making reference to religion. If they can't do that then it suggests there's no basis for what they thought they were trying to do. There has to be a solid basis or it's pointless. I also became rather famous (or notorious) on Facebook for supporting believers in religion. The fact was that fellow atheists tended to make me ashamed of them. A person can be an atheist and still be unpleasant and very unintelligent.

It would seem that you're jumping to conclusions about my motives. The 666 was a droll thing. I believe in magic but not in superstition. I needed to stop playing spider solitaire for a while and that was the effective tool.

Seems a bit of a provocative topic, but we'll agree to disagree.

Magic is for marks and always has been historically tbh (although obviously we can be "in on it", or "a smart mark", and still enjoy it like the magicians or the professional wrestling).

Magic hasn't been around Romani circles in a long time, four generations (in my circles). Doesn't stop people publishing books on sorcery and "the gypsy magical secrets passed down from generation to generation". I'll ask my mum to cast you a spell if you want. I charge £100.

Mr 666 himself, Anton Lavey says Satanism is theatre. He picked up a bunch from working at circuses. PT Barnum is a very interesting character to read up on too.

Spells and stuff like that is the superstition I was talking about. All that's for show only. The actual function is supposed to be to concentrate the mind. Like when you sit down at a chess match and you see the neatly set up board, the clock and especially the scoresheet, something goes click and you're automatically focussed on the chess. All ritual is a symbolic spell and that's what your mother would be doing. I'm talking more about the real thing. Why does one thing happen to you and not another? Is it really blind chance or more like chance that also seems to be aware?

Avatar of Optimissed

Anyway, you have turned this discussion towards Satanism, which was never my intention. At a stretch, it can be regarded as a religion and that's off limits. @MelvinGarvey is the one who's getting it, although of course, we all get things from our own angle. But I'm in accord with him when he talks about a "higher power", provided it is something that is "scientifically real". Imagine a kind of mental magnetism, as yet undiscovered by scientists who don't know what they may be looking for, where to find it or how to test for it. Science takes intelligence and also acceptance of the thing you're looking for and trying to isolate. If you pretend to yourself it doesn't exist, it might very well make you feel superior to those who think it does exist: but what's the point if you're wrong? I'm not being personal, btw .... I'm using the "you" idiomatically as "one".

<<<On 11 November 2011, in a Test match between South Africa and Australia with the time at 11:11 and with South Africa requiring 111 runs to win, the majority of the crowd and umpire Ian Gould did Shepherd's leg raise Nelson for that minute with the scoreboard reading 11:11 11/11/11.>>> (WIKI)

That was cricket, so it was a reality. There's a lot of superstition surrounding any score of 111, which is referred to as a "Nelson". The Greek letter "Stigma" means "six", which, for some reason, has a stigma surrounding it, in some varieties of mystical belief, whereas in other varieties, the number six refers to something complete, or something like that. The entire 666 thing could possibly refer to the number of devils that were assumed to exist or, in fact, to almost anything. Mankind attaches various significances to certain cases of repetition, etc. Let's see ..... if we divide 20 by three, we get recurring sixes. 20 could be thought to refer to man. 20 fingers and toes. Three might be something mystical. Some kind of trinity. How many "trinities" are contained within man? We divide 20 by three to find out. And that turns out to be the number of vanity and self-ego! Not to be admired! It's just numerology and superstition. Meaningless! Just made all that up but that's the virtue of being able to turn one's mind to anything. It's at least as real as any other explanation and I think it stands a high chance of being spot on.

Now I'm on level 888 of Spider Solitaire. I'm getting slightly bored but still learning how to do it more efficiently and I want to find out if anything happens when I get to Gold GM 100.
