Thank you. I like maths. If there are any questions I hope I can help people and I will try my hardest. I’m still quite young so I’m not amazing but I’ll do my best

How do you decide fractions?

Wdym?

Can you specify the question? What do you mean “decide fractions”?

x^2 + x – 2

(x+2)(x-1)

Just some good ol' factoring.

Divide
Sorry

Ah, that’s fairly simple. As long as it’s just basic fractions that you’re asking about.

Say you have 4/5 divided by 1/2. You first begin by multiplying 4/5 by the reciprocal of 1/2. You the multiply the numerators by the numerators and the denominators with the denominators. You should now have 4/10 which can be simplified into 2/5.

Edit: This is for multiplying, if in our last problem, you multiply by the reciprocal then follow the same procedure, then that is the process for dividing fractions.

If you need to convert an improper fraction to a mixed number, then you divide the numerator by the denominator. For example: 6/5. To solve this, 6 divided by 5, 5 goes into 6 one time, so our whole number is 1. Then your remainder becomes the denominator and your divisor becomes the denominator.
The final answer becomes 1 1/5.
Makes sense?

Yeh that’s right for multiplying fractions

Nice one dude 👍

@ThaHomieMan the first part of your explanation is for multiplying fractions not dividing fractions. Did you think he meant multiplying?
Avatar of ThaHomieMan
Yep, to divide fractions, you must multiply.

Thanks @stABZ

Edited: In order to divide fractions, you must multiply the numerators and denominators. Make sure to also multiply by the reciprocal. 1/2 divided by 1/4 can be changed to 1/2 * 4/1.

Avatar of ThaHomieMan

Edited: So 1/2 divideby 1/4 would be the equivalent to 1/2 * 4/1; 1 * 4 and 2 * 1; then simplify.

The way you divide fractions. Imma use @ThaHomieMan’s example here. Say you have 4/5 divided by 1/2. It’s pretty simple really and a lot more straightforward than ya think 😉
First you write out 4/5 and then you switch the symbol so that it becomes a multiplying symbol (x) and then you flip the second fraction which is 1/2 and when flipped it becomes 2/1

So what you should’ve written on your paper is:

4/5 x 2/1

And now you just work out the calculation as if you were multiplying these fractions sit that answer would be
8/5
Which simplified to
1 3/5

Hope this helps you bro (and anyone else obvs) <3

Oh my bad, I forgot to specify something. You multiply by the reciprocal of the fraction, so it would actually be 1/2 divideby 1/4 = 1/2 * 4/1 (as opposed to 1/4)

@ThaHomieMan I think you are getting mixed up with multiplying fractions bro
