No I'm not petit, I was just commenting on what Al said. It kind of pertains to ANY habit. I'm trying for 1 full day of 0 cigs because I know I can rinse and repeat that forever.

petitbonom

One day of none, make it the first , and none every day after.

Powerboat

Good luck guys.  I've recently ditched it as well (Yay!)

I'm turning my attention to that industry now...🤬⚉🚢

and it's really going well. (Lovin' this Marlborough red though...😖)

Don't smoke to begin with! It's easier to prevent a fire than to extinguish a full-blown blaze!

I started this thread because smoking is my addiction, but if anyone has any other addictions--shopping, eating, alcohol, sex, barbituates, etc, please feel free to post. We're all chess players here and what one can learn in any class, can be passed along to maybe help others.

watch this film RJC - it will help you stop for sure. People from chess.com are on here

To cure smoking addiction is chewing peppermint whenever you want to smoke. You should get a pack of tiny peppermint in your pocket.

I went to my "NO SMOKING" class at the V.A Fri. I didn't go last week out of depression and lazyness.frustrated.png  but this week I did mention that I have a no smoking thread on Chess.com so maybe some new people will look at this and comment. I didn't have any major disasters between last week and this week, but no progress either. Still about the same, 3 maybe 4 cigs a day. The Sunday of the 16th I only had 2 cigs for the whole day.surprise.png THAT was an all time low for me. Just a 1-off but it does show that my body is calling for less nicotene. I just have to keep trying, if I can do it once, I can do it again.

I started to stop to smoke fifty years ago, inbetween two cigs, too. You did it, You'll do it. Bravo.

Its time for the hard stuff Ron.

Imagine from now that every cig you smoke gives Trump an extra  day in Office !🚬

This thread is about RJCs' progress folks!

Yes, and progress is what I'm making.happy.png  Didn't realize its been a month since I chimed in. I had one bad weeksurprise.png and 2 good weeks. I've leveled off at 4 cigs a day. I've even had 4 on a day without the patch. At my smoking class they told me to get back into playing my drums, so I'm doing baby steps for that. They said you have a right to be happy. I'm also becoming addicted to the clock since 4 cigs is one every 6 hrs.meh.png The class challenged me to make 1 pack.....last one week. That would be 3 cigs a day.  Marlboro is starting to market packs with 25 now, for $11.50 shock.png

FRENCHBASHER001

yes, that 's great, they can sponsor u2 now !happy.png .  Why ?

Because , In the ads, the modern hero is not the cow boy who smokes, or the one who stops, always depicted as the loser , it is the one who tries to stop and control it.

Thus u create two markets : the regular smokers, and  those who try to stop.

(as a matter of FACT! sales increase again !!).

Plenty of money to get there, on FB, social networks, just to tell that magical modern adventure in a fairy tale style "how i try to stop to smoke and will succeed one day" ...

while i applaud your efforts, stating you are addicted to the clock is what regular smokers do, as in-when is the next time i can smoke?

being happy is a funny concept. my dad smoked and, regardless of what we told him, he would always respond that he liked to smoke. he died at 60. as i have aged i see happiness as being healthy. nothing can replace it. it absolutely sucks to have to work around doctor visits and surgeries, which may have complications. and, dealing with insurance can take more time than a surgery, or, even a visit.

i mention this only because i have upcoming surgery from an injury and also need care due to a hereditary issue. i can't help but think that my recovery will be better because i no longer smoke. it affects every individual's health in every way. gums, mouth, lungs, kidneys, skin. forgive me if i sound like a typical debbie downer. i want you to succeed.

as i have written in the past, if one does not want to quit, they will not.

you mentioned the cost of cigs now. that is nothing compared to the price you might pay later.

+1 Teragoogol but ...

... if he stops he can't continue this surrealistic thread happy.png probably sponsored by the manufacturers.
