+5 but they are “the few, the proud” - U.S.A Marines
I hadn't realized I was causing so much consternation.
I've belonged to a number of web communities with widely varying interests over the years. This site is by far the most vitriolic and impolite. There are many, many good people here. It's just a shame there are also so many that are, let's say, not so good.
When i first joined and began using this forum i was too optimistic about the community here. I used to write without giving much of a though, used to think everthing is okay and people would be constructive on matters i dont know.
This assumtion might have come from the confidence of knowing that these are not ordinary people but chess players.. thinkers more precisely. So thought they'd think better and be more reasonable, more solition oriented. maybe more mature..
But in time, i started get to know community here and their default behaviours. this was a discomforting and disturbing experience.
People here are too ready to be condescenting, patronizing, egoistic, troll, good for nothing type of people (no offence). They never say good things about your posts, they always critize you and your things in any way they can. They are egocentric, they dont like anything good except themselves, and want to get everything down if things are better than they are.
Well this list can go on and on.
I gave a long thoughts on this manner as to why this was this way. And there was nothing to do about it? I couldnt come up with anything useful so far. Maybe covid did this, and people became too sensitive as they became less and less social, i dont know.. if not this is default personality of a regular chess player.. As a precaution i only try writing less and minimizing problems on my side for the time being.
I want you all to think about this. this "they" is "us". This really has to be this way? or can we do better?
Thank you for reading.
