Okay, maybe it's not usefull, but I'll say it anyway: anybody can ask anything to anybody (when not blocked). And here is the catch: no one is forced to answer or even reply. And if they do, no one is forced to tell the truth.

"Ask me anything" means just nothing, unless you promise something specific, such as the truth or something like that.

I could as well open a thread titled "Ask me for any amount of money", and every time, I'd reply "sorry I'm broke", or worse: "I have that money, but won't give it to you!" and the title of the thread would still be valid, cos it contains no actual promise of anything.

Hence, it's an empty topic.

Thank you for your contribution... as it happens I am an honest person so I would answer as honestly as I can

Why are there so many AMAs. What has @st0ckfish done to this community?

I timed out a lot of games about 5-6 years ago after suffering burn out. I have been trying to get my rating back up since coming back last year

Well, okay, one question then: I just checked on your profile in order to see if anything met my curiosity, and here:

How do you explain being 1030 Elo after 11 years on Chess.com, knowing I scored nearly 1500 at my very first tournament when I began chess competition over 30 years ago and had no computer and am no genius?

Wthh?! I got a 600 rating at my first tournament almost two years ago :/

Stockfish didn't invent this, there was https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/im-john-musacha-ask-me-anything?page=2

And probably more before him

Too many AMAs, too scarce inherent value in forums like these.

Ok, but he started the recent “trend”, and it was the first AMA forum to blow up like that.

Hey blackfirestorm, this may not be original, but you're in a tough spot - an evil entity has put you to task. The fate on humankind rests on your shoulders. You need to decide between 2 options and you only have 2 minutes to decide.

1. You can save the lives of all but 100 million people on earth, but the 100 million survivors will believe that you were the cause of the destruction and you will be vilified throughout time. You and your family and your friends will be spared. The destruction will happen in one day and nobody will know what is coming, including you, because your memory will be wiped. Civilization as we know it will be over - the 100 million will live, but their life will be harsh and humankind will be facing a dystopian future for 100s of generations to come. After the destruction, your memory will be restored, but you won't be able to disclose what you know.

2. You, your children, your family, your friends and all humans can live life normally. Nothing will change for 100 years, but after 100 years, all people will suddenly die - humankind will cease to exist. Your memory will not be wiped, but you won't be able to disclose what you know.

tick-tock  -  tick-tock  -  tick-tock  .....

And I bet you thought I was mostly nice

Or what is the hardest tongue twister you know? Mine is saying 'black bugs blood' 3 times really fast out loud without reading it.

That's the question mostly nice Tigger would ask  that's what Tiggers do best!

I am gonna have to come back to this

I would go with option 2 cuz then we could live and enjoy our lives

On the surface, I'd like to think I'd go for #1 for the sake of humankind - but I wouldn't want to have to choose between #1 and #2.

Well, I played informal chess every time I could for years before that, and even began reading a couple of books for beginners. And did play endgames against myself on a board... Sometimes.

Still tho, 1500 is insane for a first tournament.

Also does anyone 2100+ blitz here want to play some games - I want to practice the London system, but there’s so many cheaters in the 10 minute pool.

Not really, I think it would be 1300 nowadays.

It took me like half of my chess “career” to get to 1300 otb...

We all are different, and you underestimate the work I did before that first tournament: I reached a point I'd beat anyone not playing in club, and lost every time to club players (about). In that time a full beginner was 1200-1300.

I read a ton of online books and played thousands of games before my first otb tournament ..3.5/6 in a u900 section sadge

I have only played 1 OTB tournament in my career. Scored 5/7 against ~1500 players and came out with a rating of 1041
