I'm on mobile, going onto the browser doesn't allow me to post pics or anything said in #2
OTF suggestions thread.
Hmmmmm, maybe a otf visual update, and maybe make it a bit smoother on websites. Also way LESS ads
This would be great, but because advertising goes away when you buy a membership, I don't believe they'll change this. It helps them make money, which is the main priority of the site itself.
Nice.
One improvement, and it's not about actual OTF - ban IB quicker.
I'm glad you mentioned that. Though, in what way could the site make this possible?
Have at least one mod on each forum at any given point.
I completely agree with this statement. It makes sense to pay some moderators to look over the forums at any given time to ban and mute repeated offenders quickly instead of allowing them to lurk around for an hour or more. This has been discussed a lot previously, but they always seem to lock threads that call them out.
I've never encountered an ad. am I doing something wrong?
There aren't any advertisements on the app on mobile, so that's normal.
I believe @Richard released a statement saying they were coming up with a plan to help ban IB and other individuals getting past IP bans and such. Sadly, nothing has come after that, and nothing seems to be changing. I guess he doesn't pop up as often, so I can't complain.
But that's exactly what this thread is for. I've been told that chess.com has taken a sudden interest in improving the forums, and that they're open to any criticisms or ideas that we have. I think that paying a few mods to watch over the forums every day is a great idea.
As has been mentioned, I really think having at least a couple of full time paid mods could be really good considering how active these forums are.
the forum experience in app, especially on IOS, could really be updated slightly, at least maybe with simple quote functions and the ability to use your own background still instead of a blaring white for everything.
Oh, I have one! On the website, you get a notification saying, "New post from ___". If possible, I think that it would be nice to add all of the people who I missed threads from so I can read them later and don't miss them.
Yea. Basic Forum notifications in app would be nice, especially since they already have a notification thing that only gets used for friend requests and challenges.

I think the moderation is pretty good here, but just 3-5 paid mods for all of the forums would be amazing for the site.
The app really does need an update. You can't use any of the features on the website, such as quoting, editing posts, deleting posts, posting pictures, and much more. And that's just the forums. You can't create a bio, use profile notes, live chats. and so many cool features. If possible, I'm sure the app users would love it if they got an update.

Yes, it would. The only real advantage that using the app has an advantage is in DMs, since they glitch for me on my iPhone. Otherwise, the website is a much more pleasant and enjoyable experience.
we need our independence!

Oohh, dm's annoy me a bit on the website. Every time I open up a chat it basically decides it needs to load every single message that's ever been sent, so consequently it really slows down sending a reply since its refreshing every couple seconds to load a new part of the page. (Of course this mostly applie s to my dm's with people who I talk to often)
Otf needs to be noticed more ;-;, idrk how people feel about this, but I think new people will be fun to see

Yes! It usually happens most when I've DMed a person for months or have simply sent tons of messages over time. When I have hardly messaged someone, it hardly glitches and it's easier to send a message.

It looks like the site is starting to notice us more, which is good. New people drop in to OTF every day, and some of them are great. Others have to be here a few months to learn the ropes.

a bit off topic (ba dum tshhh), but if you think about it, there might be a ton of non-signed in people watching and reading the messages we send, and some signed in lurkers
