I rarely get enough sleep due to several different health problems. But on the days that I do get enough, I feel noticeably more able to concentrate. Sleep makes a huge difference to chess performance.
sleeping
I too notice a huge difference. Both with chess and other thinking areas of my life. I find I can go on less sleep if I do not have to think hard or long.

Yes I think you are right. lack of sleep also has a negative impact on concentration thus leading to a lost game that otherwise could have been won.
in tactic trainer if i haven't slept right I think I lose 100 rating points.
but if I have slept like I should solving tactics is like cutting butter with a warm knife.
but sometimes lack of sleep may actually benefit you.
it has been proven that soldiers if they haven't slept for long they will fall back to their routines that they practiced a lot.
a tired soldier will actually make a routine faster if he is tired cause he too tired to think about what he is doing. he will just do it.
it might be good for bullet chess.
do you sleep enough?
the entire time I have been playing chess in a club. I have only slept 6 hours a day or less.
I come from a tournament at 0:30 am and get up at 6 am.
I have been monitoring my sleep with an app the last few days and it turns out that I really need 8 hours and 32 minutes.
I think the lack of sleep had a negative impact on my learning curve.
so have you thought about how much sleep you get?
