Telepathy etc

We should understand "supernatural" as meaning "that type of phenomenon that is resistant to scientific detection, measurement and understanding, at least for the present", due to limitations regarding scientific method which was adapted to account for physical phenomena. If the supernatural is mental phenomena and if consciousness is not simply the result of determinable, physical processes, then it would seem extremely silly to believe that all phenomena must be reckonable according to the types of experimental procedures that have served us so well in the arena of physical and chemical processes.

Something like telepahy is a mental phenomenon. I would say that telepahy definitely exists and yet there are many who believe it doesn't, simply because they believe they haven't experienced it. That's very similar to believing that atoms don't exist because you haven't seen one, or almost any physical process that you haven't experienced for yourself. You take those on trust and yet many tend to reject telepathy, despite the overwhelming and incontrovertible evidence for it. happy.png

"Telepathy experiments have historically been criticized for lack of proper controls and repeatability. There is no convincing evidence that telepathy exists, and the topic is generally considered by the scientific community to be pseudoscience."

Telepathy experiments are resistant to normal controls including repeatability. Those who have a limited conception of science may tend to discount it, for that reason. Normal, scientific procedures tend to fail and this shows clearly the limitations of science, since there are very many people with first hand experience of phenomena which may be categorised as telepathy and which cannot easily be explained by any other hypothesis.

P.S. The Wiki entry has probably been written by someone of logical positivist inclination. It isn't a balanced and properly descriptive account. In general, not all Wiki entries are either sensible or written by knowledgeable people, expert in the subject under question and Wiki is noted, in the scientific community in general, for bad explanations on many subjects.

I foresaw that response.

Personal experience does make it a likely phenomenon.  Still looking for alternative explanations ...
