I'm predicting Australia 3-0.
The Ashes 2015
Ryan Harris is a huge loss for us because he's been an incredible bowler whenever his injuries allowed him a chance to play, and (I think) he was man of the series last time the Ashes were in England. A lot depends on Starc or whoever else we pick as the third fast bowler- But I think we'll win either 2-1 or 3-1 (depending on your weather

it's a shame about Harris, struck me as a nice guy. the weather for Cardiff is ok, dry at least maybe warming up from Friday too, thick cloud today.
looking like an expensive drop of Root without scoring, by Haddin. not impressed with the wicket but i guess it must have been intentional to produce such a slow one?
England ahead by a wicket or two. I'll be happy with any sort of 1st innings lead as think batting last is going to be really tough, as usual.
Chris rogers 95... next top score of 38... pretty much sums up the innings. England well on top but a target of 270 would make things very interesting
Aussies 162 for 7 chasing 412 at tea on the 4th day. looking like England will be 1-0 up going into the second test at Lords next week.
This will be the last Ashes test in Cardiff for many a moon, Old Trafford and Headingley are both back on the roster for the 2019 series and quite right too.
15 of the last 17 Ashes series (from 1982 onwards) have been won by the team taking a 1-0 lead (1997 and 2005 the only exceptions). Let's hope victory repeats itself!
Well deserved win for England, not many positives for us out of the first test apart from the bowling, and there's even bad news in that department with Starc unlikely to be fit for the next test. Still, Johnson looks to be in good batting form and when he bats well he almost always backs it up with the ball. Australia's strong Lords record should be considered as well.
It seems likely now that Watson will be dropped for Mitch Marsh (if not immediately then after the second test) and Siddle will probably have replace Starc.
I was very surprised by the quality of Moeen's bowling, picking up key wickets despite taking a bit of stick in both innings. This new England team looks like it has excellent structure, although I'm still somewhat skeptical about Stokes' credentials as a bowler. Hopefully a more bowler-friendly pitch at Lords will give a clearer picture of the quality of both batting line-ups.
England were good. Learned quickly what length to bowl and did everything well. Australia have to improve enormously to even compete. they should drop Watson(LBW), and bring in Marsh, they should also get rid of Haddin, who batted poorly and his keeping was vin ordinaire
. Siddle will come in for the injured Starc who was the pick of the Aussie bowlers. Johnson did not bowl well, and as a result it was difficult to control England's scoring rate with one of your opening bowlers leaking runs. Thursday is too soon for the Aussies, and i feel that they will keep Watson, Haddon and bring in Siddle and they will lose again.
Just heard that Starc is showing good signs and will most likely be available for Lords
Finally some good news!

162 for 7 that's awful.
It's also interesting to note the similarities between this test and the first test of the last series (although the teams' positions are reversed)...
In that test Australia batted first and collapsed early but recovered to bat out the first day, before being bowled out on the second morning (for 295); England started brightly but then collapsed (all out for 136) to concede a 100+ run first innings lead; Australia then set a huge target (561) and bowled England out cheaply to win the match inside four days. All of which is more or less exactly the same as the first test this time around. Hopefully the upcoming results don't follow that trend......

Today marks the start of the next Ashes series, where England play Australia in cricket, one of the biggest and longest running rivalries in sport. Australia are the current holders, having whitewashed England 5-0 on home soil in 2013-14, just months after England grabbed a 3-0 victory to retain the Ashes that they'd won in 2009. Since then England have lost their top run scorer of that series, Kevin Pietersen and also top spinner Graeme Swann, while the Aussies' quick bowler, Ryan Harris, has just had to retire due to injury. It looks set to be a fascinating series, as 'New England' look to follow positively on from their fantastic series with New Zealand, and Australia look to beat England away for the first time since 2001. So what do you predict this time?
