commercial data center wasn't said.
Its was 'their data center'.
'D' making trolling posts again. And trying to give instructions.
'Do as I do or as I say or be quiet' But he doesn't get any of those.
He never learns.
And he's about to 'pony up' on that. And prove it. 'Pony' himself.
Edit: and there it is. Stopped reading after the very beginning of his two postings.

Was checking on whether workers in Antarctica ever bring their families there.
The American station apparently doesn't allow kids there.
But a couple of the other stations do.
---------------------
And Lola rightly mentioned Princess Elisabeth Station. In Antarctica.
So I asked about that on the internet. I got this.
Its Belgian.
"Zero-emission design: It’s the first polar station to operate entirely on renewable energy, using a combination of solar panels and wind turbines.
Energy efficiency: The station is built with advanced insulation and energy management systems to minimize its environmental footprint.
Water recycling: Melted snow is purified and reused, reducing the need for water transport."

You are mistaken, as per usual...the original statement was asking why we don't use Antarctica to build datacenters in general, as in, large scale commercial datacenters. It would be kind of stupid to ask why we don't build smaller scale datacenters to support the research taking place there...since we obviously do.

Princess Elizabeth Station is a small station of 50 people without even a real datacenter (of any size). That's why I compared using McMurdo at 1100 people, because it would be ludicrous otherwise. Try again...apparently you are riding the same double-schooled bus.

not sure abt YOUR reasons ? ...but tell that to the McMurdo Station there. Their data center will be up & running by the end of the year. AND the Princess Elisabeth is currently powering theirs ? ...w/ renewable energy.

so...u may wanna check ur shoes for horse apples ? cuz not only did u step in it ? ...but ur way-way in the middle a no where.

Good solid post.
'their data center will be up and running'
Princess Elisabeth Station powered by renewable energy.
Very interesting points and good conversation by L. 'D' couldn't prevent it.
Does it connect to evolution? Antarctica under discussion.
Yes. Humanity didn't evolve in such conditions as are there.
But has evolved (in behaviour that accomplishes) in such a way that conditions there become livable.
We get to talk about science things here.

Carry on.

I didn't read your three previous posts just now. Maybe somebody will.

I am sure their paychecks are direct deposited in a bank on the mainland. And they get to save all that money. As there are no stores or movie theaters to waste their money on.

when we went to miami last time we couldnt u/s why there was pennies laying on the streets. seems like no one wanted them. not sure why. AI is guessing like $30 million a year.

and s/t/e that makes us giggle ? ...is ppl who pay for salt. we went to publix miami and all those weird salts were on the shelf. how can a/o tell the diff ??

I have zero idea why Pennie’s still exist. Tbh.

when pennies phase out - prices might round up instead of down. Not good.

They can do it so like maybe one can of soup costs 71 cents, another costs 74. They can just ring up the total for the entire thing at the checkout, and only then round up to the nearest nickel.

They should still count cents on electronic transactions.

That's a good idea. Or round down to the nearest nickel.
Or - if its 2 or 1 round down. If its 3 or 4 - round up.

Personally, I have a bone to pick with religious textbooks that go against evolution and present pseudoscience for homeschoolers to learn. The issue is that they don't have the chance to know better since they're limited in social interactions and learning, and take what they're given by their parents.

Now, that's a real issue.

And they scream “FREEDOM OF RELIGION!!” Then actively deny other religions the same freedoms they say they are entitled to.

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others" Funny how when they say religion should be brought back to school they would lose their mind if at lunch it was mandatory to drop down and face Mecca for a prayer. You can't make a vague statement and expect something specific from it.

Speaking of 'nonreligion' (is that against the rules?)
it will always be in a pronounced minority.
People often mistake that for nonreligion being 'superior' (which itself works out as a mistake and a big one) but regarding nonreligion and its opposite - the 'problem' isnt really that.
Its how people react to that.
I'm nonreligious myself.
But mankind has 'evolved' himself and herself into destroying the planet and it seems that that will only be stopped if big business is forced into a position where carbon fuels are no longer profitable and somehow the major powers will get rid of their nuclear weapons (how likely is that?) and world population starts going down (some optimists claim that will actually happen) and a stranglehold of the super-wealthy on the people is somehow broken.
None of those are likely these days. Nor is a decline of world pollution.
Even if China and India stop polluting - developing countries are likely to increase their's.
Will the world reach 2100 'in one piece' as it were?
Its like mankind will have to undergo a new kind of evolution 'against its own behaviour'.
Not likely.
