I find humour rather tiring. It helps if you think about something neutral, such as gardening equipment while you are writing your posts. However, avoid thinking of trowels as the word itself is potentially amusing.

Soorat92

Any other gardening equiptment I should avoid talking about?

Hoes sounds positively rude even though a hoe is just a long-handled gardening tool with a thin metal blade, used mainly for weeding

Is rake safe?

Shears?

Wheel barrow ...

Garden gnome

String strimmer?

Rhubarb forcer....

Hedge trimmer ... oh no starting to sound rude again ... you sure thinking about gardening equiptment helps????

Hmmm this is a lot harder than I thought it would be

Please let me know which are safe

Thanks xxx

+1 Yes, and I've heard you could get hit by a verbal spanner simply for complimenting a lady around these parts. But not to dignify that sort of abusive and uncouth behavior with any more attention than it deserves (which is none, unless it's to shame it)...

Here's an example of a humourless post = The weather was fair at the Women's Chess Championship. It was held at a fancy hotel last year.

Yes, I do take your point. Gardening equipment can be a minefield of humour and innuendo with all those seed drills, tree pruners and weeders. I also accept that anything to do with rhubarb is intrinsically funny. I never looked at it like that before. I even caught myself chortling at a lawn mower. I resign.

Ok everyone - sounds like we need to work together to eradicate humour completely from this thread ... So I would guess we need to try not to tell jokes, have funny observations and images like the one below are definately not acceptable:-

can anyone else help by posting things we should be trying to avoid for future reference???

I particularly hate it when people post amusing links.

I think you could safely avoid comments about you being unattractive, or having a bothersome picture, in the future.  I'm a professional ballroom dancer, my whole career is based around beauty and attractiveness, so I feel more than qualified to say that your physical appearance definitely isn't part of the problem. :)

Thanks!

I would like to apologise for name calling you last night, it was uncalled for and rude of me, I'm sorry for any offense.

Soorat, it's nothing personal.  If you're worried about having the last word, say something to upset a moderator!  Close you down in no time as trysts suggests.

Very classy of you, Charlotte, for apologizing.

Possibly - although "it does seem to happen to me a lot."

You provide such a great "summing up," everyone is left tongue-tied?

Another hypothesis --

You resist getting bifocals (at an early age), or you're auditioning for a part on The Big Bang Theory, TV show?

Great garden icons (post #63), in any case.

You just made my day. Thanks for that Charlotte. It would now be impossible for me to dislike you. That indeed is a classy move and shows you are a strong woman/good person. Even though I was on the receiving end of it, when I reread my post after posting it, I could easily see how it could have not been clear and I thought it was great the way you came to Soorat's defense when you thought she was being treated in a way that would hurt her feelings.

So, I actually learned a good lesson in communication. I learned/learnt I need to reread what I write before I click the happy orange "Post Comment" button and make sure what I have written is totally clear, (because people aren't mind readers if I don't make 100% sure there is no room to look at it in another light, nor should I expect them to be.)

I also think it took some spunk to call me a spanner and thought to myself, "good for her" and had a laugh about it.

And just so you know, I enjoyed the thread you made on the Women's Chess Championship last year.

Hope you have a good day. We are at peace.

(But next time I expect you to do a little research into American slang and insult me with a word I understand sweetheart! Laughing)

winerkleiner

Who gave you premission to post a picture of my wife?

Soorat92

She told me she was single ...

winerkleiner

She is fetching, you're forgivin!

Soorat92

How can anyone resist her womanly beauty?

zborg

She lost a lot of weight since @Winer first picked he up.

At that time, he claims (in another thread) she was fully 300 lbs.  Surprised
