With regard to online forums you have to take the rough with the smooth.
My personal experience is I have asked some basic questions that might be ripe for trolling...and....and....in response I have had some amazing advice; so there might be some bad people, as there are on any online group - but i have been given such concrete advice, am I very grateful for. I've had two types of help, the immediate kind like "cxd5 works best there" right to people who have given me books and sources I might still be working through in 3 years time!
TLDR - just ignore the nasty people, there are plenty of good people who are worthy of your attention.

The flag is not germane, rather, the source of the post filter is the key...whether you are posting from a desktop PC browser vs. mobile phone app, etc. The filters are different. They shouldn't be, but they are.
