I bought some right after Elon bought 9.2% and made it public. I might even open a Twitter account now. Free speech!
Twitter stock.

Although I've never been on Twitter and never will be, it'll still be interesting to see what Musk does with the company. Today, Trump stated that he won't try to get back on Twitter due to his own "Truth Social" platform. However, I expect that "Truth Social" is doomed to fail, and probably sooner rather than later. There are just too many things wrong with it. So, Truth Social won't be any competition for Twitter. I'll bet it won't be long before Trump changes his mind and tries to get back on Twitter. It should be fun to watch the fireworks, lol.

I was really just discussing the social platforms. I think I'm on safe ground.

I really want Truth Social to succeed, but after watching Eli the Computer Guy's analysis, I'm not optimistic at all. I don't think Twitter has anything to worry about from that platform.

Ugh, Tesla stock down 12% today (huge drop for a single day) & it's down 23% since Elon first announced he bought 9.2% of Twitter. Elons net worth has dropped 45-50 BILLION since he got involved in Twitter. The Tesla stock is affected by his Twitter purchase because he's selling chunks of Tesla stock to buy Twitter because most of his net worth is in Tesla. When large amounts of a company's stock get sold quickly it drops the stock price quickly.
I own Tesla stock, that's why it's bothering me.

I don't know, I'm not feeling good about the world's wealthiest person privately owning multiple of the most wealthy and influential companies on earth. If Elon really believed in total freedom of speech, why is he trying to suppress this teenager's Twitter account that tracks his private jet schedule? Seems to me that Elon Musk only believes in freedom of speech when it benefits his bank account.

I have no money in any of his companies, so this is just entertainment for me.
I don't think he even cares about any short-term hit to his net worth. I think that he thinks we're in a "game universe". He's been nearly bankrupt before. He probably thinks that he can always start more new companies if he needs to do that. He has so much "eff u" money that he's enjoying himself.
I think that he's being straight with us on his vision for Twitter, but I could be wrong.

Btw, I'm not an Elon fanboy. I wouldn't own a Tesla under any circumstance, and I think some of the things Tesla does are idiotic and even criminal in some cases. :-)

A lot of people that hate Elon because they hate wealthy people don't realize Elon was so poor at one time he didn't have money for rent, he had to sleep on a couch at work and shower at the ymca.
I ain't sayin it was like a sad Oliver Twist story with sad violin music playing, hahaha, but he didn't start out a billionaire.

In fact, the more I think about the Twitter purchase the more I don't like it. At a superficial first glance it seems good but it takes his attention away from far more important endeavors like Space X. He's already spread way too thin, running all those different companie. It's more than just Tesla, Space X, & Twitter. The work on making us an interplanetary species is the most important job in human history. Earth will eventually die, all planets do along with the stars they orbit, & who knows how long the opportunity will last for us to have a chance at being multi planetary? He needs to focus on Space X instead of getting more & more sidetracked.

I think yesterday it was official. He now has 100% of it. However, it will take months to finalize all the loose ends. It's kind of like buying a house: you haven't moved in yet, but you've paid for it & the closing company is still doodling with some paperwork & nobody else can buy it. The whole billion dollar penalty of either side backs out is like the initial money put up when signing a real estate contract, $1000 is common. I've given up a grand when I changed my mind after agreeing to buy an investment fixer upper.
And the first thing he did was fire the entire board of directors. They were getting a whopping 3 million a year to do basically nothing. All their free money stops. That's why they're really whining.

I just saw a news article that said the sale has to be approved by shareholders.
