what are we?
amazing, you don't know what that means! anyway it's no concern of mine that you don't understand it, you're welcome to try unless quoting books is your only skill.
I don't know what it means to you, like I said, there were many sytems of thought repeating that ( mainly in the 70s). Does your multi-multi-multi millionaire husband know what that means? Haha, just kidding.
That's true . What is a label anyway ? A way of communicating an experience that's been had .
I suppose though if we are to find a truth what more could we attain?
I spoke a while to my mum yesterday .
She talked about my niece that has anorexia and my other niece that has asperger's.
Listening to how they both struggle I noticed a common trend , both young ladies weren't accepting things as they are but rather were trying to change the world to fit themselves .
The peace we seek can only be achieved through accepting what is. after all the structure of the world is hardly going to change for us .
They were trying to change one another according to the ideal standard they held in themselves. Even they don't raise to such standards, but then again, people get too lost in standards and the facts slip away.
For instance, I may not listen to my wife ( I'm not married, but if I were a regular husband, this would happen): she's always nagging, it's the preconcieved idea I have about her, so I zone out. But here's the thing: she may actually be different today, she may be totally in the present moment and it could be a pleasure to communicate with her. But this idea I have formed about her over the years prevents me from doing that. And she does just the same, so there is constant friction.

I mean really inconsequential , pedantic stuff . Just so much resistance you know . Not healthy .

All he said was, "we know what he is."
Maybe he wasn't tagging you as a Nobel prize winner, but 200 posts is still respectable. C'mon, man, you can do it. Almost there.
"Sure, it was tough," you can imagine Shackleton saying. "But we kept our spirits."

That's the spirit!
But I'd hate to see a drill sergeant that didn't put his men into the virtual ground to keep them out of the real.
See that 'Post Comment' button? It's not a toy. Tomorrow there will only be the checklist for what you did with today.
Those big buildings in the background weren't loved and accepted up out of the ground.

What subject are you interested in that has any hope of contributing anything concrete to the human race?

Well I'd like to say this . We can't end suffering . Suffering is inevitable . We can't cease death . So what's to be gained ?
We can become comfortable . Peaceful . We can find joy in our lives .
How ? Through reaching an understanding of what we are and what our life is.
I've given up searching externally . I read a lot of articles and the most I got , the furthest I understood , was that everything is natural (not divine).
I have an avenue left . I'm mindful and I post what I see in my thread awareness.
As for that what we are forums , I just love the discussing of who we are.
As I say we can't change the world , the most we can hope to do is understand it . Or come to terms with it .

Rubbish. A medical or veterinary doctor doesn't assuage suffering? You haven't passed the Turing test yet.
You've been theoretically nonexistent for a virtually infinite period, but now that you're ostensibly alive, you say death can't be conquered, and refuse to manipulate your share of the world? Fiddling while Rome burns, as did the villain of old.
However, I wouldn't persist in the folly of robbing a lunatic of his Napoleon hat, were such a lunatic present. Cheerio.

Look at suffering on a grander scale . Can suffering be stopped ? Altogether I mean . Well clearly there is always going to be pain .
Death will always exist and we'll mourn the passing of loved ones for example .
So let's give up on avoiding suffering .
I was talking about this, not you, you narcissistic, non-quantum-mechanics understanding, sit down to pee weirdo.
