What has the Off Topic Forum become?
Yes, but my new account name is quite the opposite of my first.
I was president of OTF back in 2021 for a few weeks. Then a coup d’état occurred and I was pushed out.
I was always a vocalist in the sanity on here, and so often partook in political discussions on here. This would get heated.
Now for a little ancedote about myself:
I joined the platform in late 2020 mostly to improve at chess. I had become interested in the game, and decided to get myself gold membership. As I got older through 2021 and 2022, the political discussions started to interest me on off topic forum. I got more involved in them.
One particular argument about LGBTQ rights got quite heated and political. The other user then tried to doxx me and I accidentally swore in the message to reply since I had forgotten it was against chess.com rules. We were both warned and muted for a few days, and the thread was locked. We got into the same argument in a different thread and it got so heated chess.com muted me (idk about him) indefinitely. I then created this account, basically never to be used again as I realized lichess was better for play and for analysis.
The moral of the story is that discussion about serious topics is inherently dangerous on chess.com and that these websites should primarily be used for chess.
I'll be honest, this government thing is nothing more than just a cure of boredom for us. Otf has been very boring lately . . .
We need a government to ensure the domestic tranquility. To ordain and establish this constitution for The Off Topic Forum.

I agree.
I’ve gotten into many of those types of arguments. I never get muted because I read over my posts before sending it.
Do the above and you’ll never be muted.
