What if?

Hello folks,

How do you think our world would look today, if Mikhail Gorbatscov was nver preesident of the Soviet Union? Would the iron curtain survive? The Sovietunion? How would Russsia be?

I see the connection to chess; Russia has produced many maters. I think the USSR realised it had to embrace Capitalism to survive.

Yeah, but would it be the same if not for Gorbatschov? I fear that the strikes, protests in Poland, would be dealt with by the military if another of Soviet Union's 20th century had been behind the steers.

I agree and always wondered how he was allowed to govern in the way that he did.
