Oh !....I hadta lol the other day when Barney and BJ and Baby Bop (my fav) were dancing the Hokey Pokey....'cuz then I remembered the saying:

....What if the Hokey Hokey is what it's all about ?

The_Ghostess_Lola

....and PW ?....Let's just say I feel excluded when you call yourself a Free Thinker. I'd say Sovereign Thinker is better....only 'cuz I'm as Freewheeling as you claim 2be.

hapless_fool

There are days I think the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about.

We should have our own church or something.

pawnwhacker

Well, aren't we all the funny ones today.

hapless, if you want to improve at chess, stop playing speed chess until you can at least become proficient in the slower game. Thinking is more important than speed to play chess well.

Ever watch a fast gun draw from a holster? Try drawing and shooting fast before you learn to draw and shoot well and you'll shoot yourself in the foot. This is how you are going about it with chess.

Now this "drunken rants and etc." Not good enough. Your punishment is to be stuck in this denizen and have people like Elroch, Mindwalk and me (among others) show you the errors of your ways.

As for you, Lola. You can call yourself a "freethinker". Who's going to mind?

It seems that no one, including you, considered the Drake equation (N = RfpneflfifcL) in anything more than a glance.

It does not say that there can be no life on other planets. It is a calculation to estimate (guesstimate, actually) how much life there can be.

This tread is now clearly displaying a personal touch.  Very entertaining.

You've probably noticed by now that pretty much all of Ghostess' posts reveal a lack of comprehension of what other people have posted.

Please try to break 900 in your blitz game.

You had to repost all that for a cheap one-liner attack?!

     paleontology or palaeontology

     re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleontology

Now, when will you post your apology?

He won't do it, so I will.

PawnWhacker, we all apologize to you from the bottom of our collective hearts.

I can never break 900 in blitz, try as I might.

I'm good until the later stages of the midgame, then I crumble like cheap Camembert cheese.

But it doesn't bother me much. I still enjoy it anyway. It's more fun than the stupid war games on the computer.

I don't play much blitz and readily agree I'm no good at it. I see no reason to apologise for pointing out a spelling mistake. I have only ever seen palaeontology as the spelling. People ought not to be so sensitive, when a gentle tease is all that's intended, not an attack.

pawnwhacker

Well, you've made the mistake of believing that only the Brit way to spell words is correct. Paleontology is 100% acceptable.

Meanie...

pawnwhacker

You sure it isn't spelled "meany"?

    Variants of MEANIE

mean·ie also meany \ˈmē-nē\

Uhhh, RG1951 is not a troll. He's just being himself....(altho' I'm not so sure if he's the best qualified....just playing w/ ya RG ;) )

pawnwhacker

No. I don't think he's playing with us.

btw...I edited my earlier post about you being a freethinker. It's ok if you want to be a freethinker.

Here's a fascinating article on Politics and Religion --

Written by Michael Gerson, a former Speech Writer for Bush 43.  He (cogently) criticizes another Republican, for taking cheap shots at President Obama, who is then quoted (at length) on his Christianity.

Gave me pause.  Good reading for all.  Classical Rhetoric at its best.  Persuasive.

Rarely do I agree with Gerson's politics, but his writing always moves.

pawnwhacker

I don't think Walker took any cheap shots at Obama. He simply tried to tactfully sidestep an issue that certainn reporters wanted to bait and trap Walker.

Good reading? Hardly. The article and the newspaper make a good garbage can liner. Nothing more.

Between "Evolution, God, Global Warming, and Politics," we are slowly building an infinite landscape for Posturing in the main discussion threads.

It's fascinating how the main threads start looking more and more like the "Open Discussion" groups, where that kind of craziness abounds --

   How boring.

Your short of words today.  How different for you.
