What's the perfect song for this?

Michigan loses to Ohio State 21-10.  Michigan fumbled the ball, threw interceptions, and certainly did not look like the winningest team in NCAA history.  In fact this was our second losing season in a row.  We had the longest continuous bowl streak, and longest consecutive winning season streak broken last year, and yet Coach Rodriguez has yet to have a winning season as a Wolverine.  Ohio State has now beaten us 6 years in a row, and 8 of the last 9 years (since Jim Tressel took over).

I'm throwing together a little music video with today's game footage to express my frustration with my favorite team (it's basically just an excuse to play with my new editing software Wink).  I need the perfect song to accompany the visuals.

It can't be too harsh, cuz they're still my favorite team, and always will be no matter what.  So something like "Loser" by Beck won't work.

Breakdown by Tom Petty?

I Missed Again by Pill Collins?

What are your ideas?  If I pick your song, I'll mention you in the credits.  Cool

Hey Will,

Do you have a musical style you'd prefer? I love the Blues and there's certainly some songs in that genera that might work. Classical is often overlooked. I'm just curious if you're only looking for more contemporary stuff or not.

Of course, I could just follow your suggestion and give you what I think. ;)

My Gophers are a nightmare and have been so for years. It was no different today... They're still my team though.

I'm pretty flexible as far as musical styles go.  As long as it's a cool song, cuz I'd have to hear it every time I showed the video.  Wink

The best suggestion so far has been "Deacon Blues" by Steely Dan, but the phone lines are still open.  Cool

Ha!  This is just too easy!!!!

Billium I will offer 3 songs for you complete with links!

1st goes to Richieboy Rodriguez......  The old John Denver song "Country Roads" is most appropriate......  Does anyone doubt his regret at even considering leaving Morgantown and "almost heaven West Virginia"?  Too late for him though, that bridge has been burned.  He would struggle to get an interview with Marshall University's Thundering Herd at this point!

For Michigan......  Frank Zappa's song "The Torture Never Stops"!  For the Wolverines alumni the chant is where did the Bo show go?  We miss it so as we dwell in woe.......

(note: if you can't appreciate the awesome electric guitar solo which this song has, on the above link just skip to 4:34 into the song for the lyrics)

For the players themselves...... well..... I don't mean to be cruel, but this song fits so well!  Yo' Mama

WEATHER THE STORM - Ralph McTell

So you're finally over it now.
You thought you wouldn't make it,
But I knew you would somehow.
I guess I knew you could make it in the end
And it's good to have you round again old friend.

You weather the storm,
You weather the storm.
You weather the storm,
And you come up smiling in the end.

So, you're over all the disappointments now.
You thought you wouldn't make it,
But I knew you would somehow.
Maybe it still hurts to think of bad times that you spent,
But it's over, and you're back again old friend.

Chorus

Into every life, a little rain must fall,
And for sure it poured down on you.
An umbrella's no good in a hurricane,
But just like the sun in the end you come shining through.

Chorus

So, you see, it's getting better now,
You look a little battered,
But we all do anyhow.
When the break is mended it can be stronger than before.
Don't go round butting doors or punching walls.

Repeat chorus twice.

Artfizz!!!  How the hell are you my friend?  We have not played in a 'coons age!  (Do you have raccoons in the UK?)  I know you don't have American Football though!!!!  Good song, but very gentle.....  not ruthless enough to me, but hey I am an SEC fan where we get rather crazy.....  so compared to a rivalry like Alabama / Auburn ....  well.....  in the words of Lewis Grizzard when he was asked about the Michigan/Ohio State rivalry he said "its like two mules fighting over a turnip"!  Having lived and currently traveling in both OH & MI.....  I know it is a little more passionate than that to fans of those schools, but..... well....  maybe your song is harsh enough......  Perhaps my songs were more suited to more uh.. err..... umm..... of the kind of all encompassing passion that unreasonably effects the lives of entire families type of rivalry that exists in SEC football!  To even date someone from the opposite school is an act of treason which could result in immediate dismissal from the family....  both families!  Talk about putting the fun in dysfunctional, everyone needs therapy in the south, but loyalty no matter how misguided, is never an issue......  Unless you are the coach who loses more than 2 games in a row to the hated rival......  In which case you need guards (who are from out of state) just to leave your office!

SLIGHTLY off-topic: the European Union has selected two quiet people as its President & Foreign Minister.

Two vicars were talking. One of them said: "I know the meek will inherit the earth, but I didn't expect them to run the EU too."

Becoming prevalent, apparently.

Getting back on topic: ROCKY RACCOON?

Avatar of jpd303

Rocky Raccoon is a good song, but i dont think it expresses frustration well enough...how about 46 & 2 by Tool.  you could interpret it as your team is going through a transitional time period and you know that greatness awaits on the other side.

'Believe' by Yellowcard is my suggestion.

I didn't pick these songs objectively, because I listen only to this type of music lately, so I like just everything from these two bands. But these songs might be useful:

"Would" by Alice In Chains fits nicely http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3FnQMSD4Zg

"Black hole sun" by Soundgarden http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiSkyEyBczU

Or if you don't mind more heavy stuff, their "4th of july" will probably fit more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU4L6THYAbM
