Add a classical rating category

I like the categorization of lichess. 10|0 would still be rapid and you'd just have to add time formats of 30|0 or bigger as classic. And who cares if there's are (a lot) less players in that category really?

I agree, there should be a classical category with its own rating. The fact that a 10 minute game is lumped together with a 90+30 doesn´t help incentivize people to play this kind of slow time controls.

Every game more or equal to ten minutes in a 40-move game is a rapid game, that means you can play games with almost impossible timeouts (like 45|45 and 90|30) but also games that has a considerable timeout rates (like 10|0). I definitely agree for another category, but only for standard chess as variant games are way faster and they already have hyper-bullet.

Yeah, after trying out 15|10 which is reasonably long (if you have a tight game, you will actually play around 25 minutes per side if the game gets to the endgame), I must say that I am even more for classical rating. I have to say how much different 15|10 is to my usual 1 hour per side game. I played a terrible game (it happens from time to time, but then I usually get demolished) and still won because my opponent played even worse in the end. The feeling is just completely different.

I would as well propose that they implement 30 minutes with say 20 seconds increment. I know you can play that now, but I mean to put it as a non custom option. Perhaps if they implement classical rating, more higher rated people will actually play longer games. When I say higher rated, I don't mean titled players, but at least someone between 1600 and 2 000.

Chess.com is great in a lot of ways, but the fact that they don't have a classical category is just silly and problematic. I play a lot of slow chess, mostly the 45I45 format, and I want to work to having a good rating in those games. This means I can't ever play semi-fast games like 15I10 because it's a different type of game and would ruin my ability to accurately gauge my ability at slow chess.

Please fix this Chess.com! Add a classical category!

To the people who think there isn't a demand for long games, a classical category would encourage people to play classical games.

I’d also like classical to be added

This makes complete sense to me. If there's a reason to split blitz and bullet then there's more than enough reason to do this.

I vote for Classical rating category.  votechess.png

It's nice to see someone titled to be for this idea. happy.png

It's very nice!! Come on chess.com it is not that hard I think. Just add it. It can be for all games slower than 30|0 . The competition is always copying chess.com, now return the favor. grin.png

Santoy

Definitely agree

Rapid Rating should be scrapped!!
AunTheKnight

I agree.

Santoy

Of course Rapid rating shouldn't be scrapped, it is very valid. But there is a big need for 60 mins plus and a new Classic rating added.

I have no personal interest in Blitz or Bullet but all 4 forms deserve to be treated separately.

ELVITOTO

Writing on this, until classical rating category is made.

We need a classical rating!

ricorat

I sent Chess.com this forum Andy told them that we need classical rating on this site.

Would people really sit their for hours calculating in-front of their screens for an extra 9 points for their rating probably not. It would be a cool experiment if maybe they added it to BETA program to test run it.
