Android app small rant

I don't like the new app on android.
I don't like the mentality of trying to fix what's not broken.
I don't like the mentality of adding new features without the ability to turn them off.
I don't like that there is no option to revert back.
I don't like that there is no option to try an update and then decide if I want to use it.

My problems, in no particular order:

1. The new piece sets are atrocious.
One of the reasons I liked to use the app is that it had a simple, pure, classical looking piece set that looked like the ones used in chess books.
They are, for some reason, gone.
All pieces look ridiculous, ugly, and for some reason they are now black and yellow, instead of black and white.

2. Ads, ads, ads, ads.
I understand the need for ads, I really do. I have no problem with ads.
But this is getting really ridiculous and annoying.
Back then we had a small banner at the bottom. Small thing, didn't bother me.
Now, it's a pop up ad after every game, covering half the screen.

If I want to play another game and I click 'new X min game', suddenly, an ad loads in its place and I click on that instead.

I understand this "tactic", as it's used in a lot of apps, but it's a disgusting one.

3. General UI and "ergonomical" problems.

Why take away previously available options from the users?

In the previous version, we had the option of choosing if we wanted to see miniature boards for correspondence games, or have them in a list.
Now, the choice is gone.

Creating a new game was easy from an 'ergonomical' point of view.

We had a small plus sign at the bottom right, just like in the gmail android app when writing a new email.

Now, for some reason it's moved to the top? What's the point?
Why fix what's not broken?

If I want to check previously finished games, why do the messages
'You Won!' 'Black won' White won'
pop up every single time with the rating points changing animation?

Why does the app behave like I just finished the game when it was played,
let's say, 3 months ago?
Back then, it just loaded the game, and that was that.

Pure. Simple. Minimalistic.
That's how I liked the app.
Not even liked. Loved it.

Now, I'm on the fence of deleting it.

Let the users customize the app.
Let the users decide what they want to use in your app.

I have no interest in seeing my stats in the frontpage of the app.
I have no interest in leaderboards, news, puzzles, forums, none of that.
I want none of that visible on my end.

There is no problem with these, of course, don't get me wrong.
But the ability to customize the app fully would be a welcome one.
Let the user decide what they want to see. Let the user decide how they want the app
to behave, what to load, how to look.

This was possible in the previous version.
Not fully, of course, but this version takes away options that were previously available to the user.
