Has Chess.com blocked the possibility of pasting text in live chats?

Hello.

When I'm watching a match and trying to paste a text that I already copied in the chat, I can't, nothing appears. When I do a test on Notepad, for example, I can. What can it be?

Thanks.

Hmm, probably just a coincidence, but on the positive side that would block macros... where you could press 1 button to send a whole sentence in an effort to distract your opponent.

To answer your question I guess they just didn't include that functionality.

A few days ago it was possible to paste messages in live chats.

I don't think there is anything in place for that. I was able to post some stuff yesterday. If your post starts with a special character it may just not post though.

Hello. I appreciate the attention ... But I mean that in live games, when I'm watching, I can't paste any messages that I copied from somewhere in the chat, even without any special characters. In this forum, for example, I can paste texts here, but not in live chats. I'm sorry if I didn't understand you, because you used the term 'post'.

I can't copy paste into live chess games either. I'm not sure why, it just seems that chess.com won't allow us to.

Thanks for feedback. It is really defective or they have banned an essential feature that I at least use a lot.

I can't say for sure but it may have been removed to prevent copy/paste spam and may only impact basic members.

I have noticed this too---you can no longer copy or paste text from the message line.  It's too bad, because I used to use google translate to read and send messages to someone in a different language.

Exactly! I usually did the same.

I am new to chess.com and it is really frustrating to have to decipher manually what a foreigner said in chat

I think this would be most helpful when trying to communicate with our brothers from far countries who would rather have us copy paste their language from translate.

caddiedotgroup

i agree this needs to happen because i want to be able to translate what others are saying. however, i have noticed this works from the mobile app but not the web app

I was trying to copy and paste in a live game because my opponent spoke another language, and I was merely trying to communicate. Could not copy and paste from Google Translate. I understand they probably disabled the feature due to abusive players, but it sucks for tge rest of us who just want to be cordial.

MySecretMessages

According to Google AI, "Chess.com has removed the ability to copy and paste text in live chats, possibly to prevent spam, abusive behavior, and the use of bots or macros." This is abusive to users. Especially since it is not consistent across platforms. I primarily play games on my Mac, and very frequently I need to translate chat comments to some who says "Dont speake inglês". They could have implemented their "anti-spam/abuse/bots/macros" feature much more intelligently than to completely destroy our only way to communicate with fellow players. So now, in addition to having to use Google translate because Chess.com developers don't have enough vision to offer an integrated translate button in the chat window that does this automatically based on the opponents location (., "flag icon"), now I am supposed to manually type in the translated text from another window while playing a live timed game? This is so stupid. They've ruined game playing communication now.
