Creating iOS equality is important. Chess.com has promised it for years. Let’s hope they do it by 2026, and keep up the pressure!

iPadOS and iOS is generally considered the same. Idk about VisionOS. MacOS is completely fine, as it uses the website and it doesn't have an app, and it has all functions.

Okay, but that misses the point. Using the Chess.com app on iOS is a miserable experience, but for many of us, that’s really our only option. For Mac users, the website works fine, but for iPhone users, the website is awful. Many iOS users don’t even know that the experience they are given is worse than everyone else’s.

Also, Android sometimes gets features before the website, and certainly before iOS. It feels like iOS has been neglected more, and while I acknowledge the progress that has been made to reaching equality, I also say that there is still a long way to go.

And iOS does not deserve to be nerfed, but to be in advantage, since iPhone is the most powerful smartphone in the world, especially with the new iPhone 17 series!

I did some digging, and have put together a list of the main features that are present everywhere except iOS, as well as one that is Android-exclusive. I might update this list someday. I have excluded unimportant features from this list.
Features Exclusively not on iOS (Present everywhere except iOS)
- Conditional Moves (important, iOS at playing disadvantage)
- Multiple Premoves (important, iOS at playing disadvantage)
- Higher Chat limit (was 50, but lowered to 10 on iOS only) (important, you can’t have a good conversation)
- Endgame Practice (+Endgame Leaderboards!)
- Custom themes on Forums (not just a blinding white background)
- Sent Daily Challenges (Cancel accidentally sent Daily Games)
- Deletion of saved bot games
- Multiple Daily game views (The website has 2 layout options, Android has 3)
- Recovering Archived Messages (easily recovering archived message conversations once they have been archived)
Features Exclusive to Android (Android-only):
- More options for time controls in bot games (including Custom timers)
Here’s an analogy:
Imagine playing Bullet Chess, but, against your will, you start the game with less time than your opponent. This represents the absence of multiple premoves. Valuable time is removed from your clock for no reason. What would you do?
You’d fix the clock, right? Changing the timer back to what it should be, so that it’s a fair fight.
However, what Chess.com is doing, is essentially making a rule that you CAN’T change the clock. Because you’re on iOS, the clock can’t be corrected. You’re FORCED to start the game at a disadvantage. While it obviously isn’t actually time odds, the wasted time adds up fast, and throughout the course of a game, if your opponent plays fast enough (and/or doesn’t use iOS), it can lose you seconds — and games.
Plus, let’s just face it. Being in a King + Pawn vs. King endgame, sitting back, and watching your Pawn automatically cascade up the board is a great feeling. We don’t get that.
You would never start a Bullet game at a speed disadvantage. We shouldn’t either.
