NEW STATS INTERFACE IS RIDICULOUS

It appears that chess.com has decided for no apparent reason to change their stats interface. Every few months chess.com changes something on the site, whether it is needed or not, I have the feeling this is done by bored techies in a vain attempt to prove that they deserve to have a job...they obviously don't.

It seems that the Daily stats has removed the Average time / move stat: this is the stat that tells you how fast your opponent moves on average; which is quite important on daily as some players make an average of 1 move every 72 hours or so. Without this stat it is now impossible to target ones daily chess tournament invitations to players who can actually join said tournament, nor understand what one's own average is, in order to know which tournaments you can join.

My question is how does someone so short sighted that they would overlook this fact keep their job?? It seems impossible, yet here we are.

The new stats had been in beta testing. I'm asking if that was released too early.

Thanks.

I just do not see why you would remove certain stats without consider how they are used by the patrons of this site? It seems very haphazard.

I know a number of things had been reported as missing through the beta, so I'm a little surprised it has been released. It may have been by mistake.

Another feature that I am missing terribly is in the stats of recent puzzles, the mouse over showing the diagram of the puzzle is gone!

So you no longer have the option to go back to a specific puzzle if you want to find it based on the visual impression of the position. Please bring it back!

Thanks!

You can still click on the puzzle id, but it will take a long time to find the puzzle you want.

The stats are available in the public API. Here is a link to mine: https://api.chess.com/pub/player/msoliver/stats
replace "msoliver" with any other player's name. Look for "time_per_move" value.
Annoying that it's not part of the chess.com UI - but you can get it  manually.

the stats for puzzle rush have changed also

... it is no longer clickable under puzzle rush to view your entire puzzle rush history and sort results...

Thanks, but that would be pretty annoying...plus the value does make sense, yours say 3289 or something..what does that mean?

I am surprised it was already released from beta but they posted an article explaining the reasons for the changes last month.

Thanks...but it still sucks not having average time / move...they can do all this crap if they want...but why take away an important feature.

I agree with Sheldon. Indicator "Time / Move" is very important !! I ask to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Attracting new players to tournaments depends on this. In general, the old design was better.

So it seems likely that stats like avg time per move are destined for a yet to be seen tournament stats page.

Unfortunately, after your first post,..., they fired everybody and now there's no way to change things anymore.

You might want to join the beta. You could make suggestions when changes are being proposed.

I made a number of posts about the new stats while they were in beta and they appear to have been addressed.

Unfortunately, it seems, there was nobody looking out for the important daily stats.

Yea - I didn't mean to suggest that it was a good alternative - just that there was a way.

I believe the number 3289 is in seconds - so 54 mins per move on average.

Avatar of Martin_Stahl

Time per move is on it's way:

The new Stats product has been released to a cohort of 20% of our members as a "stage 2" of getting feedback on the design and functional changes. (Stage 1 being Beta.) As we speak, Average Time to Move is being added back to the Daily stats page, and further out, we hope to add the same metric to our stats for Live Chess as well. (Also, we're reimplementing the pop-over thumbnail boards for Recent Puzzles right now.)

Thank you for your feedback! So far, everyone's keeping their jobs!
