Recently -- yesterday? day before? not sure exactly -- I noticed something that I had never seen before: One of my daily games was listed as waiting for my opponent's move, with one minute left. "Huh!", I thought, "neat coincidence!", and went on to other things.
But when I came back (well over a minute later), my opponent still hadn't moved, and the game was still shown as being active, with them still having a minute left.
I clicked on the game, and instead of showing the move list, it showed something like the "Accept draw?" dialog, except it was "Claim win?"
I googled, and learned that there's a setting which you can enable to automatically claim wins when your opponent flags. I don't remember ever knowing about that setting before, but I figured maybe I accidentally disabled it somehow. So, I went back to the game, claimed the win, and then went into my settings to enable it.
It was already enabled.
The same thing happened today in a different game.
The game from today was in the "2026 Chess.com Daily Chess Championship" tournament, and I feel pretty sure, but not 100%, that the earlier one was as well.
