Question about flag removal policy (Not Political)

Hi,

I’ve read your official statement regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine and understand that it led to the removal of Russian and Belarusian flags from profiles.

I want to clarify that my question is not political — I’m not debating any specific conflict or expressing support for any side. I’m simply asking about Chess.com’s internal policy: what are the objective criteria used to decide when a country’s flag is removed?

For example, some countries are involved in wars, genocide, or have been accused of severe human rights violations by international bodies, but their flags remain visible. This raises questions about how consistently the policy is applied.

Is there a documented or internal guideline that governs these decisions?

Thank you for your time and clarification.
